This InterContinental was *classy* .. I know it's sort of funny, but one of the best parts was the gorgeous bathroom. The materials used and the attention to detail with lighting, cleanliness, and maintenance could not be improved upon. The view was great, and service was everything you could hope for. Would definitely stay here again! In fact, I am...

Although not clearly marked this hotel is steps from Shinagawa Station, from where you can take Shinkansen to other cities as well as local metro within Tokyo. Take the Konan exit and turn right as you exit Shingawa station. You'll see two tall buildings, lobby is on the 26th floor of East One Tower. I was able to check in...

A very luxury hotel close to the railway station and offices to visit. Staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was clean, with everything I needed but a little smaller than expected. Breakfast is good, except the day when I checked out. They offered me a "express breakfast"; which was a kind of a goody bag with coffee and...

We stayed in Room 3010. It has a perfect view of much of the city and also Mt Fuji. We walked into the room and were speechless at the view. It's beautiful! Could not get enough of just staring out of the windows. The staff are amazing as well. They are well trained and miss nothing. Need a taxi? They...

This hotel is located at the upper part of East One Tower and is not signposted very well. It's so poorly signposted that you would not notice it. The reception is on the 26th floor with rooms going to the 32nd floor. The rooms are clean and tidy but the hotel don't offer early checkin. Tea and coffee is provided...

Last few days in Japan so this was a great place to stay before heading home. Gorgeous view from the room, lovely foyer reception area. The place was mostly business folks enjoying the experience on someones else's dollar no doubt. So it is worth noting one thing, we decided to have drink before heading out for a meal. We ordered...

During my visit to Tokyo this January , I stayed at the very classy and modern Strings by Intercontinental Tokyo which was of heartwarming hospitality. The hotel room as a whole was of a very clean design with sophisticated details. I love how the colour tone was very calm and pleasant. I definitely look forward to visiting again modern and polished...

We stayed in The Strings twice in the past month. The rooms are very comfy, while sizable by Tokyo standard, they are the smallest I have seen in the Intercontinental Group. The staff are super helpful and friendly. Location wise, the hotel is around 5-6 mins walk from the train station, hence if you are travelling with young kids from...

This is a really nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The lobby area/restaurant is in the middle of the hotel on the 26th floor; a dramatic but serene, open courtyard. The room was spacious enough with a great view of the city from a large window. Really beautiful at night. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom &...

Room size is generally bigger than average hotel in Japan. Staff are excellent! they were very helpful in knowing my needs and helped me to make reservations for restaurants. It's within walking distance to shinagawa station, and it connects yamanote line as well as other parts of tokyo. i will recommend this hotel to you all !

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
