The breakfast of this hotel is wonderful. Normally, when I go to Japan, I don't take any breakfast buffet, unless it is good, because there are so many great eateries in this country. However, Intercontinental by the strings offers a great breakfast. My favorite dishes include takano tofu and the bamboo shoot dish. In addition, the staff are generally very... More

This hotel is located next to Shinagawa JR station and KeiKyu Shinagawa station. Meaning it is very easy to access from Haneda/Narita airports as well as Shinkansen lines. But be aware that it is not so easy to find at first since there is no major signage indicating the way to the hotel. It did take us quite a while... More

next to a busy train station. still, you're isolated from noise and unless you walk outside, you'd never know. even then it's rather civilized and clean. but pretty much everything in Japan is clean. great staff, good restaurants and reasonable prices, especially for Japanese standards.

I had a good stay at this hotel in April this year, although I was only in Tokyo for 2 nights this hotel was so convenient for the train station and the ability to get around in Tokyo. Feels very classic, simple elegant furnishings, typically geared towards business travelers versus tourists. Lovely atrium space with Japanese feel in use of materials, water and bamboo etc. Faultless service, very superior standards. Not a super central location but accessible to all major visitor attractions by rail. Environment feels very city financial rather than fashion it cool in terms if an... More

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
