I don't have a lot of experience to compare this to recently, as far as hotels in Japan go, but I will say that the location, at least is fantastic. I just read that someone else posted that it was near the red light district- I really should have done more research. Haha! First impressions: Clean. Small (but actually very...

Can't get any closer if you wanna stay in the center of the red light area. Kabukicho, notoriously known for men wildest dream escapade is just a stone away when you stay in this hotel. There are many hostess clubs, love hotels, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. The area has many movie theaters, and is located near Shinjuku Station, Seibu Shinjuku...

I stay at the Shinjuku Prince every chance I get. The rooms are average size (for Japan), clean, and the beds are comfortable. It is very close to a train station (Seibu-Shinjuku) and about a 10 minute walk to a huge train station (JR Shinjuku). The hotel staff are always friendly, and the rooms are a decent price. I stay...

I recently stayed at Shinjuku Prince for a weekend trip to Tokyo. The staff were pretty dour but were able to take of the basics without any problems. I was on a fairly high floor so I was lucky enough to have a sweeping view of Tokyo, and didn't hear any noise from below. Yes, the rooms are cramped, but...

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip to Japan, and we loved it. The room was small (as is to be expected for Japan) but very comfortable and clean. The room also had a great view! There was no minibar, but each floor had vending machines with snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and the rooms had...

I stayed only 1 night here but would stay again in a millisecond. I was thrown off at first that after my boyfriend checked us in, the reception asked for my passport as well. I asked why they wanted a copy of my documents if the room wasn't under my name and he said that all guests staying were required...

This hotel is close to the Shinjuku train station. It's a big hotel. Check-in etc was uncomplicated. The rooms are small, but well designed. One hears a bit of street noise (even on the 16th floor where I was), but it's not too bad. The check-in staff were not super-professional (or their English was limited), and couldn't answer some of...

I am glad that we only stayed here one night because I wouldn't be able to handle it The first thing we noticed about this hotel was the smell when we arrived on our floor, when we entered the rooms it did not get any better, and the bathrooms smelt worse like sewerage. Considering we were in Non-Smoking rooms there...

We were in Shinjuku both at the start of our Japanese holiday for one week when the Prince was full until our return for two final days. So we were able to contrast the Prince in the heart of Shinjuku with a hotel 20 mins walk on the edge of the area (see my separate APA hotel review if interested)....

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
