Stayed in this hotel with my family for 4 nights. The location is superb as it is surrounded by several convenience stores such as lawson, family mart and 7-11. There are also a couple of coffee shops, restaurants and also Mcdonald’s nearby. The higashi shinjuku metro station is only a few steps from the hotel entrance. The shinjuku station (bus, train, etc) is about 18-20mins walk from the hotel though.

We got a double room for our stay and quite frankly, the room was a bit small but it seems to be the standard in tokyo. Opening a luggage or two on the floor will make it hard to walk around the room but it wasn’t really a problem.

The bed was comfortable, the heater of the bathroom was working perfectly, the airconditioning system/ heater was also working perfectly. Overall the room was clean and tidy. Most important, the hotel room was very quiet enabling us to get quality sleep.

Check in was very swift and hassle free, the staff were all very friendly and polite, as most Japanese are. They even tried to help us in our daily trips.

Take note however that the hotel does not offer a direct transfer to or from Narita Airport.

Breakfast was good by my standards. Kept me full with a balanced meal. Their breakfast buffet offered some dimsum, rice, noodles, eggs, sausages, bacon, salmon, mackarel, soup, salad, fruits, bread and pastries. Enough to cater to different tastes.

Overall, I think the price is reasonable. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would definitey stay in this hotel again if given a chance.

We stayed here for a few nights over New Years, the room was clean and the staff were usually friendly.

The wifi was absolutely terrible, we often couldn't connect and when we did it was either way too slow or kept dropping out. A little annoying when you're overseas and can't use mobile data. There didn't seem to be a "good" time to use the internet as over the entire length of our stay (5 days) it never properly worked.

The hotel seems to be used by alot of travel companies so has alot of international tourists (compared to business hotels etc.) This meant the lobby was usually very busy and the breakfast was always fairly full. Elevators were fairly slow (there were only two for a fairly big hotel) but rooms were quiet and minimal hallway noise. You could hear people next door if they were banging around but otherwise fine. The rooms are average by Japanese standards but small by western. Bathroom was fairly decent considering it was a typical Japanese Pod style. The shower was in the Bath which may present issues for those with mobility problems.

Staff were friendly enough, they did seem quite stressed alot of the time and weren't as friendly as most of our other Japanese hotel staff but this could've been due to the number of guests etc. They did seem to speak decent English as well as other languages which would be beneficial for those who don't speak Japanese.

Location was good, close enough to the areas that you can walk but not within them so you have to listen to all the noise. There are also multiple subway stations nearby.

Breakfast was in the adjacent restaurant, decent variety (not massive variety) and mainly Japanese style, however they did have unlimited pancakes available which were quite nice. They also had a soda fountain, coffee machine and a variety of teas which was nice.

If the internet was better I would consider staying here again, however bad internet on an international holiday doesn't make for a pleasant stay.

Was staying in Sotetsu Fresa Inn Higashi Shinjuku in Tokyo from 10-13 Jan 2020. The location is really excellent, like 1 min walk from the nearest station, Higashi Shinjuku. The room wise is as per most hotel rooms in Tokyo, small, but this is juz something u’ve gotta put up with in Tokyo. The bed was fine, I requested for lower pillows & my request was acceded. The AC / heater system was also working perfectly, though it took me a while to figure it out :D . The room was always kept clean and tidy. The staff were friendly also. Only things I think the hotel can look to improve are the possibility to add hooks on the walls or provide hangers for us to hang our clothes, given that there’s no wardrobe or cupboard in the room. & as wat was mentioned below, the WiFi could really do with some big improvement, cos I was only able to get max of 1 to 2 bars of signal in my room. Not exactly a big deal for me cos I had WiFi routers so I used it all the time. N lastly, the hotel might consider providing complimentary bottles of mineral waters, which are usually provided by most hotels. Ultimately, I think this is still a decent hotel for those on a short sojourn & is looking for convenience in locations on a budget.

The staff were friendly, the cleaning staff did a great job, however for a tall person this was not a favorite.

The room was expected to be a tight squeeze, all hotels in this price range are. The bathroom was so very tight. The sink forms a part of the sink/tub/shower arrangement and the tub itself could barely hold a smurf.

The bed was very firm and the pillow was incredibly hard and small.

It is convenient to transit and there are convenient stores close to hand, again that is the usual in Tokyo (Minato).

Note that the restaurant is smoking permitted and caused us not to use it.

You are encouraged to sign up their membership for a rebate of 1000 yen plus 2 bottles of water. I find that quite ridiculous for SGD$200 a night hotel. There is no bottled water provided by the hotel otherwise. The room is small and carpet looks dirty. You can’t open the suitcase on the floor because it’s too narrow between the bed and TV or the desk. The sink in the wash room is not well cleaned as well. Location wise is convenient with a train station exit right next door so if you are catching a train or Shinkansen it’s really convenient. One if the staff gave us the precise instruction of how to get to Narita airport with a hand drawn diagram. We are very appreciative but forgot to ask his name.

This hotel is very competitively priced. I think it is not for those fussy travelers who don’t understand the principles of price to value ratio.

At this price point, travelers should not expect the room size to be big or luxurious. It is the typical size of business hotels in Japan. So my advice to potential travelers who want to have big rooms, then they can skip this and pay 4 times more for big brand name hotel chains.

The location is located next to 2 subway lines which can bring you to Ueno and Shibuya quickly. It is walkable to the Shinjuku Golden Gai and the Korean town. From the airport, just take the Keisei skyliner and get off at Ueno station. Then take the odeo subway to the hotel. There is also a cheaper option, that is to take the Keisei all stop train. This takes about 19 mins longer but it is cheaper by about USD11.

There are lots of amenities at the lobby and these are all self-service.

Room tip
Those rooms not facing the main road are bigger because of more usable space. I stayed in both types during my 10 days stay and the one not facing the main road was definitely more comfortable due to more space and less noise. Recommend that you request for rooms not facing the main road.

The breakfast was really monotonous and lack variety. It’s the same stuff everyday. It is not worth waking up for, let alone its 1,980 yen price tag.

Overall, I’d have rated this hotel 5 stars due to its excellent price to value ratio. However, there was a very bizarre incident on my first night when a staff opened my room at 1.10 am!!
I was woken up by this intrusion and got a huge scare as I thought I saw a ghost in my room. I could sleep after the incident and missed my prepaid breakfast because of it. The reason for her intrusion was to check for perfume smell. What an strange reason to enter a guest room at 1.10 am. Moreover, I did not even use any perfume.

The location of the hotel is very convenient with the exit of higashi-Shinjuku right next door. The staff is friendly and they are trying their best to support and help customers, despite sometimes difficulties to speak in English. The rooms are small and some renovation would be useful (old furniture style, especially the bathrooms). Unfortunately the carpet was dirty with a lot of dust! But the general value for money is ok

The hotel is at a slightly less busy part of Shinjuku city but just 15mins walk to the main busy heart of Shinjuku. It is more quiet and peaceful. It is practically next to the entry/exit to the Higashi- Shinjuku Tokyo Metro and Toei line station. The reception was warm and friendly, and speaks English. Check-in and out was smooth. The hotel is clean and so are the rooms. The room is largish with just enough space to move about easily. The bed and linens are clean and comfortable. The room's aircon unit works well and quite silent. The bathroom is also largish to be able to move a little. Wifi is free, strong and fast. Many amenities for personal health and hygiene use, including coffee/tea are laid out at the lobby for guests to access them freely.

Hotel with good standards and good cleaning. The rooms maybe appear a bit old and the small double room is really small if you travel as a couple and carry large luggages. The location is very good though with just 50 meters to the subway. This subway line takes you to most parts of the city. So convenient!

The room was small as was the bathroom but that said were were not in there long enough to be bothered by it. Great shower, loved the toilet. The bed was soft and comfortable too. Friendly and helpful reception staff couldn’t do enough for you. You can store your cases too. The Royal Host restaurant was used for breakfast and there is a good choice for both Asian and western breakfast.
We had a good stay.
