This hotel is great value for money. The staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is located right next to the Ikebukuro train station so everything is easily accessible. The views from the bar and restaurant are superb i.e. Mt Fuju!

This hotel was spotless, staff speaks English, the internet (LAN) in room was fast and free but the TV was Japanese only. Normally this is not a big requirement! BUT we were there during the earthquake and had no idea what they are saying on TV. Fortunately we had internet access to get our news!! So glad we brought our...

The Metropolitan hotel is not in Tokyo's best location, but nearly on the railway and metro station of Ikebukuro. We stayed in a room which had the standard size (17 sqm), was clean, on a high floor which made Mt. Fuji clearly visible in the morning (we had a good deal). The breakfast was really disappointing and not worth its...

Booked a Superior Double-room for 2 nights requesting non-smoking room as I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. I'd called prior to leaving for Tokyo to ensure the room is non-smoking and also requested room upgrade and late check-out at noon (hotels in japan usually are quite strict with 10am or 11am check-outs). Hotel reservation staff over the phone ensured me the...

This is 2nd trip to Tokyo and I picked the location for its good access to all parts of the city. It is a budget hotel and I was surprised what I got for the low rate. There was a basic continental breakfast included. Free wifi in the lobby. The room was typical Japanese small size but with a larger...

We stayed there for 5 nights. We had 2 people in our room wit 2 single beds. Room was decent for 2 people (remember, this is Tokyo, so room isn't large by nature). Washroom was very clean and nice with an adjustable shower head. All the washroom supplies were complete and refilled everyday. Location was close to JR Ikebukuro and...

This hotel exceeded expectations!! I had asked for City View room if possible - when I arrived they offered me an upgrade to 23/24th floor for minimal amount extra (for better city view). We decided to just go with what we had booked - the room was on the 11th floor and still was fab - good size and we...

The location of the hotel is central. Furthermore it is close to Ikebukuro metro station, which is directly connected to the airport. The room was small in size but clean. The staff is kind and friendly. I like that they could understand English. The hotel' s view to Mt Fuji is also a plus of this hotel. On the other...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
