They did not accept credit cards and made an "exception" for us. Our room was next to the reception desk and it was loud every time somebody came in. The bathroom was dirty and human hair was stuck so I had so ask especially for them to clean it. Even after cleaning the water did not run down smoothly. The...

It is what you would expect for a budget hotel. Very basic small room with its own bathroom. However the place is very clean and the staff very friendly. We got lost on the way to the hotel and didn't arrive until after midnight but they still got up and checked us in. It is in a geriatric location, close...

If you try to book something last-minute you will always not be satisfied!! This place was not bad located, but there are many "but"!! Rooms are quite small (but that's Japan!!), busy, not much clean and the staff was not so nice..

We booked for 3 person, the place not bad for money we spend. The bath room is clean, not really sure about the blanket. They did clean the room and change the towel every day. The first night the light in the room was dead, but they fix it right away after we complain the next morning. U can find...

The reason why I booked this hotel was because it's cheap and it's in the city of Tokyo. 15 minutes from Ikebukuro station (exit C6) and it's actually just around the corner of the more popular Sakura Hostel. Value for money - you got free wifi, cheap, clean and individual bathroom. It suits all your basic needs which is rest,...

The hotel is well located, 10 minutes away from Ikebukuro Station (15 minutes in a slow pace/luggage) The directions posted in the website are not very clear. The first thing about getting to the hotel is that: You must find the exit C6 (otherwise it does not work), this exit is located around the general area of "NISHI GUCHI" (West...

Easy access to the shops, Ikebukuro Stn...the owner was very helpful and sent us to Metropolitan Hotel for our Airport Limo services with his Estima, at no charge. It was raining. I was traveling with my 2 parents and was looking for a room for 3 persons. This hotel offer such kind of room. We paid our 1 night in advance and could enjoy a room which was clean, quiet and at a walking distance from Ikebukuro station.

I stayed at Hotel Hanamiya and really enjoyed it a lot. The pricing was great for the location and private accomodations. The people at the hotel were very nice, and helped us out with our sudden reservation. It's not a five star hotel, but you get great value for money spent.

This hotel is cheap, around 7800 yen per night for double room. It is the worst hotel in Ikebukuro and possibly the world though, and it isn't easy for me to say that! The beds are as hard as a rock. The "air conditioning" is set to sauna temperature and can't be adjusted (only the speed of the air pumping...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
