We spent 6 days, 5 nights in Tokyo and the Dormy Inn served our needs perfectly. Yes the rooms are small but was enough space that we were not on top of each other as initially feared. We had a little sitting couch for TV watching in the evening. The foot foot bath at the top of the hotel was...

1 night stay at this property. Rooms and hallways were certainly a bit aged but otherwise it would be a small room as you would expect for a Japanese business hotel. Hotel is within 2-3 minutes walk of subway station so it is very convenient and also surrounded by a number of restaurants. Hotel also has a small hot spring...

Stay at this hotel for 7 nights. This is my 2nd time for this hotel (The last one was Jan 2013) - The location is convenient. Just 5 min walk from Asakusa station (Ginza line) and 7-10 min walk from Asakusa line. Easy access from Narita airport (Access Express train, about 60-70 min). - The staffs are very polite. Some...

We stayed here for two nights without breaking the bank. It was located directly across from the Asakusa train/metro stations and within easy walking distance of all that Asakusa had to offer. The room was compact, but clean and modern. The hotel offered great amenities (breakfast, good wi-fi, a mini-fridge, and a balcony with a view). We thoroughly enjoyed our...

Very good location for those who arrive at Narita and later plans to continue the trip from Haneda. Connections are direct non-stop and stations are nearby the hotel. Besides Asakusa has a lot of attractions all close to the hotel. The hotel is ok., Small rooms like this in Japan.

The room was compact but clean. We paid the extra for a room with a view of the river – well worth it! We even had a tiny balcony and the view from it at night was sensational. The hotel is a little old but the added extras really enhance the experience; stuff like hot water bottles at night, free...

Dormy inn Accessing from the Narita airport is easy, train to Uneo Station then change trains and subway to Asakusa Station. Short walk to the hotel. Once mastered the train system is brilliant. The hotel staff speak English. The room is clean but small , typical of Japan but the cost is reasonable. The breakfast is either Japanese or Western,...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
