We stayed here on return to Tokyo after travelling in Japan for three weeks and were very happy. Previously stayed in Ginza, which was good. Both well located and good access to rail. Restraunt and staff here win hands down for service and helpfulness. The room here is also better size by Japan standards. Our room was right near lift...

I first stayed in Ginza area and then moved to The Gate in Asakusa - a wonderful boutique hotel with a great restaurant with views over the city. Perfectly sited in a quieter area of Tokyo with many amenities and comforts including 24 hour service. And all very reasonable for Tokyo.

The hotel provides a full experience within itself. A check in lobby on 13F that doubles as a luxurious lounge. Fantastic view of the Skytree from the corner Scenic room. An open air terrace and a rooftop bar where you can just lounge the night away with a drink and a view. It has a great location near Asakusa station...

We loved this hotel. The location in an older part of the city, close to subway lines and great food and other shopping was on your doorstep. But what made our stay even better was the fantastic staff who were some of the best we have ever encountered. Booked easily on their website (English version) and requested a Class C...

Great rooms, great location, great value. Ticks all the boxes and is right across the road from one of Tokyo's temples which was an amazing sight to see. The big plus is it's next to the train station which has a direct line to Haneda airport. Next time you're in Tokyo, check this hotel out.

I made a booking direct from their website. Their English website have up to date information unlike most local hotel where only Japanese version up to date. Their booking system is also very simple to use which is the reason that makes me decide to book my stay with them. (I understand Japanese but just hate to download the make...

Great location, very easy access to major subway lines. Lots of restaurants nearby. But mostly, the staff. My husband had a medical problem, and people in the hotel were just unbelivable kind with us. Special thanks to Ayako san, always concerned with us. The restaurant is great, and althought I did not had breakfast there, I had some meals. I...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
