We stayed here for one night upon our arrival in Tokyo. We stayed in a larger room as a family of four (two kids aged 5 and 7). The staff were very nice and the futons were comfortable. I highly recommend ordering breakfast. We had the Japanese style and ordered a western style for the kids to share. They were...

We took a taxi here and he had a little bit of trouble finding this. It is definitely walkable to Sensoji temple as well as Tokyo Sky Tree. We only stayed here one night on our way back from Osaka. It was cute and had a little Japanese bath. We slept on mattresses on tatami mats. There was a separate...

This Ryokan was above my expectations, the photos posted do not do it justice. Such a lovely Ryokan, traditional yet with all the mod cons (Tokyo in a room!). After travelling around the different areas of Tokyo, Asakusa is by far the best area to stay with so many little eateries that aren't' overly packed and tiny laneways to explore....

We stayed here last night and found it to be very good. Firstly, it's perfectly located just a few steps from the lively Asakusa eating and tourism district (minutes from Senjoji temple) in the area without any cars. Lots to do and see around there. Secondly, the room - which was actually 3 rooms - living, bedroom and bathroom -...

What a lovely surprise! After skiing/boarding in Hakuba we really dreaded the thought of a big city with 3 children (10, 8,6) but what a DELIGHT!! 6 nights in Tokyo staying at Ryokan Kamogawa and we just did not want to leave. The futons are fabulous, the breakfasts are amazing and delicious (do be adventurous and have the Japanese option...

We will definitely book here again. The location is brilliant. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was clean, and the futons comfortable. There is not much open for breakfast in Asakusa so be sure to book your breakfast at the hotel. Arigatõ gozaimasu to the owners and staff!

We stayed here for 4 nights in one of the premium rooms. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making the stay quite comfortable. The rooms are fairly small and the bathroom was tiny, but it was enough for our group of three. This ryokan is in a nice spot, very close to senso-ji and other Asakusa attractions. I would definitely...

We stayed in the Ryokan in September 2015 and had a lovely stay. The inn is very conveniently located in Asakusa - super close to lots of amenities and just round the corner from Senso-ji temple. We had a nice room and it was just about big enough for 4 of us. The inn provided summer kimono's for us to...

First, this place has just a superb location. About a 3-5 min walk to Asakusa subway station (which is also a station on the Keisei Sky Access Express, making it easy to get there from Narita. It's right in the heart of Asakusa, on a side street off of the main walking street. A 3 minute walk to Senso temple....

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
