Pros: good location, quiet, well priced, comfortable beds, good wifi

Negatives: lacks cleanliness, room was not as advertised

We booked a two-queen room for two nights and informed the clerk that we had a dog with us. Upon arrival, I was allowed to view the room. It was newly renovated.
When I reminded the clerk that we had a dog with us, I was told that we would not be allowed the renovated room (despite paying $20/night for the dog). I was told cleaning bills would be astronomical if they had to dry clean the bedspread due to the dog, and yet we found a disgusting spot of something on the bedspread that clearly hadn't been drycleaned. The clerk was extremely concerned, to a point of being unprofessional, about the dog being on the bed. An additional note: the room was advertised as two queens, but the second bed was a double.

If I stayed here again, I would ask for a room on the front at the far end. The reason being that many truckers stayed there and left noisily from 2 a.m. onwards. It was a comfortable room we had at the back but with very little sleep.

We stayed one night and had a great sleep. The checking in was very easy and the gentleman that checked us in was polite and chatty. He gave us a newly renovated room 'around back' and it was very clean and quiet. When we came back in the evening, the parking lot had 7 very large trucks (ie logging trucks) and we thought 'oh no, the noise of them starting up in the morning will sabotage our sleeping in' But neither of us seniors even heard them leave! The two queen beds were very comfy, as were the pillows. There was a working TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle and adequate dishes. It was all spotless and smelled fresh and new. We would not hesitate to recommend this motel for anyone wishing to stay and explore the area.

We had made reservations two months in advance. The price was $89. a night according to the internet. We we got there in August the man at the desk said the rooms went up and the new charge was $159.00 a night. We said no way. When we booked it was $89.00
The guy at the counter didn’t care and told us the new charge. We said no thanks and continued our journey to Vernon and checked into a hotel there. Will never go back there.

Looks nice in the front but beware...stayed for two days the bed was horrible could not sleep on it the normal way if we did our feet woukd be higher then our heads. Bed was way to soft we would roll together in the middle then struggle to get out of the bed. Asked for towels never received any. Cleaners never cleaned rooms after others stay. Garbage and dishes left outside rooms from previous stays...not a good choice

We are on a 12 day camping trip between 2 different lakes. Our friend has a bad back and we decided to do a motel for a night in between. We will absolutely never stay here again!!! Upon check in at 1pm our room was not clean. Check in time according to our booking was 11 am. Once in the room, it went further down hill. The free shampoo packets are impossible to open and we thankfully brought our own. The soaps were like poker chips and lathered just as well. No blow dryer in room. We had to walk down to the office to get one when we called... they didnt even bring it to our room. No customer service. The shower had inconsistent water temp and pressure and you couldnt be more than 5 ft tall or you had to duck under it. Toilet was stained, didnt flush unless you held the handle down, and overall was disgusting and dirty. After the shower... sign on the wall said not to have more than one appliance plugged in at a time or breaker would blow. Really?
So utterly unimpressed we get into our king sized bed for a comfy night. Bed had dips and was hard as a rock. Was anything but comfy. Only 2 pillows on a king size... then what... an earwig comes crawling up the comforter. I wanted to leave at this point but my hubby said it was probably a fluke. We watched some tv and tried to sleep. A few doors down were a group of people partying. They went on with very loud music and loud vehicle burn outs in the parking lot until 2:30 in the morning!!! No assistance from motel staff to stop the ruckus. We are leaving this morning tired and sore. We basically paid over 100.00 for showers. We recommend to anyone and everyone... stay anywhere but here!!!!

Basic motel. Poor value. Unscrupulous management. Stayed for work, job wrapped up early. Management would not refund full price of days paid for but not used. Various excuses but did not honour their agreement to refund for days not used if given 24 hours cancellation notice. If you can stay in Vernon don't stay here

Made a reservation 3 months prior, as we were attending a wedding. Arrived to find that we had no reservation on record, and no one else had one either. On the 6th manager since we called 3 months prior. Thank god they had lots of room, as only motel in town. Paid for 4 nights. Next morning we changed our plans and gave notice within their terms to leave a day sooner. No maid service that day. If we wanted fresh towels we would have exchange them at the office. Next morning noticed 2 chambermaids and asked them why we were missed. They said we were not on the list of people staying more than 1 nite. They apologized and took care of us. A short while later they returned and said that the manager instructed them to only clean after departure no matter how long the stay was. This resulted in a heated educational session on how a business is run by the maids to the manager. When checking out I pointed out that my credit card was to be cedited for 1 nites stay. He said he wasn't authorized to perform this task. Well I won't go into the tirade I launched on him. Phoned my credit card people and the y would investigate when I provide receipt copies etc. He wrote out and signed on the back of my receipt that they owed me an amount for an early departure. It looks like I am going to have to launch this investigation. It is unfortunate that the only place in town is owned by immigrants that have lived here for 30 yrs. and still do not speak any english and can only have as a manager an individual that speaks their native tongue and is given limited authority to perform anything else than their self serving agenda. Is it any wonder why predjudices continue to thrive?

We stayed here 1 night on a road trip and hadnt booked anything in advance.
The owners were friendly and helpful, although thats about as far as the positives go.
The room had two double beds in it, very outdated decor with carpet bare in patches. There was dog hair on the floor, and although the bathroom was clean, there was old mould present.
We had our 1 year old with us and i wouldnt let her take her shoes off as I was pretty disgusted with the state of the floor.
The next day we were keen to get out of there - our daughter woke up with bites which we can only put down to bed bugs/fleas.
All in all Im glad we hadnt pre-booked as I would have been absolutely furious with the way things were - we were so tired from our trip and we knew we wouldnt find somewhere else nearby that night so we put up with it.
Never again!

Let's start with booking for 4 and being quoted 100$, arriving with only 3 because my husband had stayed home, and being charged extra for the "third person". Then myself and my 2, 17 year olds were given a room with One King-sized bed?
Now...The gentleman at the desk was not exactly rude, but was certainly brusque and unfriendly, and being that it is the only place in town, and.. we are already late for our function, and... are personally at the end of a very long week, I decide to let it go. I mean, we're all girls, we're all tired and a king IS a great bed in a motel, right??.. Not in this case...
We literally dropped off our bags and left for our function, returning at 11pm to our much anticipated and needed night's rest, to a dingy and very dated room (I've stayed in old motels.. so I'm trying to stay positive, but... )
- the toilet barely flushed
- the sink and tub are both stained and rusted
- there is a small stack of mismatched dishes on the counter and a piled up toaster, microwave and coffee pot under a taped up sign stating that only one appliance can be plugged in at one time
I'M STILL LETTING IT ALL GO... We're tired...
- Then, there are only TWO pillows (and NOT, nice ones) on what turns out to be the HARDEST, LUMPIEST bed I have ever experienced in paid accommodation! The bed also had a fitted sheet that was obviously very old and slightly too small for the mattress, so it kept pulling off the corners.

I literally got maybe four hours of broken sleep and had to get up because I was too sore and stiff to attempt more.

The only thing I can say that is positive is that the location it is in is nice and quiet. But honestly, so was my parked car, and it is definitely more comfortable.

Why is this accommodation more expensive than similar/superior properties in Vernon?
Answer from Jeduweb
Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Canada6 contributions
Because you are in Lumby in a nutshell. Accomodations are often more expensive in small villages located on scenic roads according to our expérience so far. We pay $89.00 before tax for tonight for room 224 and we are satisfied.
