Accompanied my son and friends who outfitted for a canoe trip to Lake
Manitou. I stayed behind to explore the area and to photograph autumn colours.
I was delighted with the friendly reception of the staff, an extremely comfortable and well-equipped cottage for a one night stay, and delicious meals. Fortunately I had access to a car to explore the back roads and lakes in pursuit of the bounty of colour. The moose remained elusive but I will be returning in the spring to try again to photograph loons and moose.

My new husband and I had a great stay at the Island Retreat where we enjoyed the utmost in comfort and relaxation in a beautifully maintained cottage surrounded by the wilderness. I would recommend VQ to anyone looking to get away from it all!

Amazing 4 day anniversary trip with Voyageur Quest's Algonquin Island Retreat. You have your own private Island on lake Kawawaymog, canoe included, and you're totally off the grid. There are solar panels that provide some night time light if you desire, but it's fun to play games by candlelight! Propane fridge, gas stove, and bbq, and all the amenities needed, just bring the food! The wood burning stove warms up the whole cottage in no time if needed, and there are spots to relax and look out onto the lake on all sides. Canoeing the Amable du Fond is a must! It's the access point #1 into Algonquin's North Tea Lake, and this gorgeous winding river is spectacular at sunrise. If you're quiet, you have a great chance to see wildlife. We saw 2 bears cubs pop up right beside us on our last day! We missed seeing moose, but many had. The canoe into Algonquin and back at a very leisurely pace, including a stop, will take you about 6 hours. Peace, quiet, nature, sunrises, sunsets, and starry nights makes this Island Retreat getaway unforgettable!

This was a wonderful weekend near Algonquin Park! Sage - our wilderness guide was very knowledgeable and wonderful. Nicoline our Chef - was awesome. Great group of people from Australia, Germany, USA and Toronto - only 12 though. It rained most of the weekend, but the cabin was so cozy and atmospheric. There were always activities to do - if you wanted to. I would definately go back!

What an amazing 3 day log cabin adventure for our family of 4, travelling with 18 & 17 year old lads and with no access to WiFi! We all loved the experience.

Canoeing and spotting 3 Moose on the silent paddle at dusk was special and the highlight of the trip was the early morning canoeing experience on the lake as the sun started to rise and the mist lifted into a glorious sunny morning. To then paddle to an island, where a tasty breakfast of bacon and blueberry pancakes was cooked over an open fire, with lots of chatter, was just the most idyllic morning.

We were lucky to have been with such a great group of people also staying in the cabin. All the food was superb and Emily and Alex were brilliant hosts.

If you want a family adventure with memories to last a lifetime, then I highly recommend.
Thank JYB04
