Spacious clean comfortable room with good AC. Kitchenette was basic but had all we needed, fridge freezer, kettle and a microwave. Good supply of toiletries and towels. Enjoyed having a pool outside our room. This was shared with 3 other rooms but we were the only ones to use it. Good location, only 5 minute walk to the beach and 10 minute walk to the local stores for provisions. Lots of very good eateries and take away places nearby. Very friendly chap who delivered fresh linen daily who gave us lots of tips about where to visit. Thank you. Continental breakfast was good but basic. Fresh fruit, cereals, tea coffee, breads, croissants and cake. No cold meats or cheeses. We paid an extra 5$ a night each to add eggs, bacon and hash browns etc. Well worth it. The breakfast staff Jerome and Karine were lovely and definitely added to the enjoyment of our holiday. The hotel restaurant - Astrolabe was exceptional. We are here 3 times. The food was delicious as were the cocktails and again the serving staff were amazing. Thank you all. We also enjoyed meeting Julie the hotel guard dog (a Yorkshire Terrier.) Our only grumble was during check out. We had to vacate our room at midday (which is standard) and were told that a shower room was available for our departure time. Prior to a 24 hour journey home we accessed the shower room. It was more like a sauna! Plenty towels and toiletries but no effective AC. Because of the heat and humidity you couldn't get dry and trying to dress in such hot sticky conditions was no fun. We'll definitely return, but hope that something is done about the AC in case we need to use the shower room again. All in all a magical stay in a beautiful location.

A Perfect Caribbean Getaway – Exceeded Our Expectations!
Esmeralda Resort in Saint Martin is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beauty of the property. The lush tropical surroundings, charming villa-style accommodations, and peaceful atmosphere made for a truly relaxing stay.
The rooms are impeccably clean and beautifully decorated in an old Caribbean style, with super high ceilings that make the space feel open and airy. Each room has a lovely little veranda, the perfect spot to unwind at the end of the day. And having a swimming pool right at your doorstep? A definite must!
The resort’s restaurant is another highlight. The staff there are phenomenal—it was a joy to start each morning seeing their warm, smiling faces. Special thanks to Jerome and Natalie, who added an extra touch of charm and hospitality to our dining experience. The front desk staff were equally wonderful—always kind, helpful, and ready to assist with anything we needed.
One of the best parts of Esmeralda is its unbeatable location. The walk to Orient Beach is literally three minutes, and several beach spots offer free seating for Esmeralda guests. Orient Beach itself is simply stunning—a fantastic place for a long walk, with a steady breeze that keeps you cool (though don’t forget to reapply sunscreen!).
We would absolutely return to Esmeralda Resort. It exceeded our expectations in every way, and we can’t wait for our next visit!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We had a short 4 night stay at Esmeralda and overall enjoyed our stay. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the suite. It came with a small kitchenette and large spacious living room. Bed was comfortable. Only issue was a lot of mosquitos got into our room and we had so many bug bites and spent so much time trying to kill them. The semi private pool at our villa was a plus!
Dinner at Astrolabe was very good! Free Breakfast was basic, but we added some scrambled eggs each day for $9. Servers were very kind and friendly. We spent a couple days being lazy at the nearby Coco beach. The location was also a short walk to the Orient Bay Village where we had dinner and drinks. A market/convenience store was also located at the Village where we bought some snacks and beverages. I really enjoyed our nice and quiet stay!

Thank you for your kind review! We're delighted that you enjoyed your spacious suite, the semi-private pool, the dining experience at L'Astrolabe and our location near Coco Beach and Orient Bay Village. There may have been a lot of rain recently, which can sometimes bring more mosquitoes, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this caused during your stay. Beautifully decorated rooms in small three or four roomed cabins, private pool for each cabin, and every room has a private terrace. We did have a problem with very noisy Texans in the next room on our first night, but a call to reception resulted in someone visiting their room straight away, and the Esmeralda were able to change our room the next day. The on-site restaurant Astrolabe gives a relaxed vibe to continental breakfast, but transforms into a top-notch French restaurant at night, with superb food and service.

The setting of the Esmeralda Resort could not be more ideal. Having our own villa for a group of 7 was perfect. Private pool means no rushing out to grab a pool chair. Resort restaurant and staff were great. The beach has several options for beach chairs (plentiful) and lunch choice and is a very short walk from the resort. More dining options and shopping is an easy 10 minutes walk along the beach pathway. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchens were stocked with dishes, glasses and utensils as well as supplies to make coffee or tea. I found my bed very comfortable.

Esmeralda Resort, situated on Orient Bay, offers a wonderful experience of French Caribbean relaxed glamour. Located at the very far end of Orient Bay it shares beach facilities and restaurant services, sometimes for an extra cost. From the checking to the check out, the staff attention is very good. In the early 90’s we had stayed here several times. But had not returned since 2017, after a devastating hurricane hit the island. Rooms are spacious offering kitchenette facilities, WI-FI, TV, A/C, fan, and many other amenities. Each building has 3 self contained units with terrace, sharing a swimming pool. The Astrolabe Restaurant serves breakfast ( Continental is included on the rate) and dinner. Service is very good and all dinners were very good. Chef imparts his own touch to classic of the French Cuisine. The Front Desk is very efficient. They solved all our problems without hesitation and showed eager to help. It is highly recommended.

I’ve made many trips to St. Martin but never stayed in the Orient Village area. I have enjoyed the many restaurants and beach clubs in the area, so this trip I decided to stay at Esmeralda, which is convenient to all the restaurants. It’s also a very quick walk to Coco Beach, which is the beach club available to hotel guests. I found the resort is laid out nicely, with villa like units scattered over a large area, each with three or four rooms and their own swimming pools. The rooms are large and quiet. There is a little kitchen alcove and a large bathroom. Comfortable bed and a little table with two chairs. One note: it’s a big room but there was no chair to read or watch TV. My overall impression of the room and the resort is that it’s probably overdue for renovation. The Astrolabe restaurant on site is very nice and a pleasant place to enjoy a meal if you want to get away from the village crowds.

The location is in a nice gated area. The property has lots of space and green areas and the rooms are nicely distributed across the property in -what I saw- villas of 3-4 guest rooms.
Every villa has a small pool, however the pool is not so convenient, as it has no umbrellas and the pool area is not so welcoming to stay and relax. The room (ours was a deluxe room), is super clean and had all amenities and electro domestics needed: iron, microwave, coffee machine, fridge.. etc. Really, the room is GREAT!
The breakfast mmh.. is not nice. Accommodation includes continental breakfast, that we knew, however they serve a couple of slides of fruits and croissants and they remark every day that if you need something extra you need to pay for it. For the price of the accommodation, they should include some more breakfast, or better, no breakfast at all, as it is annoying to see such as small breakfast served and the willingness to sell something in addition. We saw the same discomfort from other guests.
The resort has no beach. It has agreements with the some beach bars to give sunbeds for free, however the nicest that is right next to the hotel, you need to pay 15eur per person per day to get a sunbed. Esmeralda should include this in the price per night and offer it to the guests. Otherwise you need to walk and find other beach clubs where they will offer you a "second line" sunbed for free.
The Orient Beach is SUPER windy, it is wide and large and beautiful, however is soo windy that sometimes is not easy to stay for long at the beach.
Summary: Super nice accommodation, not convenient breakfast and beach.

We all enjoyed our stay very much. We rented a 2 bedroom 2ba suite and another adjoining room with bathroom, great space for our family if 4 to all spread out and have privacy. Nice small kitchen facilities, and small pool outside was relaxing but not for laps, FYI. Great location near many good restaurants in Orient Bay, short walk to beach, convenient restaurants within resort and at beach. Small breakfast buffet was included and satisfying, additional options available for added fee. Service very friendly.

The Esmeralda Resort was the perfect location to enjoy the beautiful Orient Bay area of St. Martin. It was a 3 minutes walk from our bungalow/villa to the beach. Each villa ( 3-4 units) share a pool just outside the door. The small village area with restaurants and small shops/ markets is a 10 minute walk. The included perk of free umbrellas and chairs at several locations along the beach was wonderful!!
The large room was large, comfortable and clean and included a small equipped kitchenette . We enjoyed the convenience of the included continental breakfast. The staff at the restaurant were attentive, friendly and one of the things that make Esmeralda so enjoyable.

There have been no shuttles that I am aware of in the last 5 years we've been there. Just grab a taxi at airport, reasonably priced as they have controlled pricing there
There are more places to choose from in the Orient Bay area.
