Following a really very tasteful redecoration, I called in for lunch. For a real village pub, ie., not a gastropub, the food was good, although the choice was limited. That, in itself, is never a bad thing, provided it's done well. The downside was the landlord's reaction to my approach re. the refurbishment was, to say the least, silent. A...

Dropped in early evening to wait almost ten minutes or more to be served! There was only one person ordering around six drinks in front if us? If the barman went any slower he would have stopped, it was painful to watch. No apology for our wait, when we tried to make cheerful conversation, we had a reply of one...

Really lovely village pub with log fires, lovely atmosphere, fantastic food at good value prices and excellent service. Dogs are welcome - always a bonus for us and friendly new landlord & landlady made us very feel very welcome. Quite different to a previous visit couple of years ago! Will definately be back.

The pub has been recently refurbished and the inside is very pleasant, some comfy sofas as well as dining tables. Log fire and new carpet warms the place up a bit. Really good ham, egg and chips, and my husband said his mixed ham and cheese ploughmans was the best he'd had in a long time. 3 different cheeses and...

Stopped here for a drink and food during a stay in Probus village in October. Scrummy home cooked food, clearly the new landlord & landlady who have taken it over in the last few months are really making this place a 'must visit'. A traditional village pub, friendly and welcoming - not trendy. Lovely log fire too. We will return!

Stopped here purely by accident on the way home from a weekend in Truro, SO glad we did. All four of us fancied a roast which is what they do on a Sunday, took our dog and the nice landlord gave him a bonio! The landlords have only been there about three months, think they've got it right! £7.95 for...

Pre-booked and arrived at out requested time. Pub was fairly full, with just Alex the landlady behind the bar, serving drinks, talking orders for food and waiting on tables. Was this a problem? No! Service was fast and slick, food amazing and all at a very reasonable price. This is a great p;ace to go for a drink or for...

Great atmosphere, tasty pub grub. Ideally situated between Truro and St Austell. Worth a detour. Outside area and garden. Large car park. If you like your ale strong the HSD is amazing. The quiz nights are very popular, so advisable to book if you're planning to eat on a quiz night.

We called here for lunch mid week in March when it wasn't really busy but there were others having lunch. The lady behind the bar was not the friendliest and we didn't exactly receive a warm welcome as another reviewer has already commented. I asked for a glass of wine and felt uncomfortable when she had to reach above her...
