We stayed at The Salis for about 3 weeks, and it was a mixed experience. The staff was, for the most part, very helpful and friendly. The front desk personnel stood out as prompt and professional.

This is a mid range hotel, but for the area it is probably one of the nicest. The rooms are ok but have flaws. The TVs are tiny and there are issues with water pressure and air conditioning. The walls are paper thin and noise from outside is easily heard in the rooms. The mattresses are thin and a bit worn. They will, however, provide a mattress pad, which helps.

We had serious issues with staff entering the rooms without notice. We were working nights, so we slept during the day. On numerous occasions, housekeeping or maintenance workers would come into the room without even knocking. The red DO NOT DISTURB light was completely ignored. This continued even after notifying management.

The surrounding area is not what I would consider comfortable. The hotel would lock its front door late at night, and even use a bicycle chain to secure the entrance. This also provided a safety issue.

The restaurant was nothing special. The food was ok, but it took forever to get served. Orders often took more than an hour to arrive for a simple meal.

Overall: Not great, but you work with what you have at the location. The price is very reasonable.

Room was a good size for the price, restaurant food was great and came out very fast, contrary to some of the reviews on here. Price of beer was nearly as cheap as water which was beneficial seeing as there is not much else to do in the evenings.
Ladies behind the desk are sarcastically hilarious, definitely tickled me being a Brit but I can imagine how it would rub people up the wrong way.
Laundry service is cheap, although it doesn't go back to your room and you have to ask for it from behind the desk (it could sit there for a few days). On the subject of sitting for a few days, this was the condition of my un-cleaned room towards the end of my stay. After the first day of the room not being cleaned, I asked at the front desk to have it cleaned everyday, and to place my laundry in my room once done. Even though they agreed to do as requested, that was the last time my room was cleaned, and again asked them the second time it was uncleaned and still no one came to clean the room or change the towels. Disappointing on this level.
The gym was a room with a treadmill, exercise bike, 2 dumbells and a broken multi-gym (which is now fixed - you're welcome). Half the equipment was out of order and it is definitely nothing like the pictures on google. At least the floor in the room is big enough to do some exercises in.
If you're looking for a hotel to stay near to Turda, this is a decent place to get your head down for the night

I would not recommend this hotel the reasons below.

Reason 1 - We have booked this hotel for 2 couples (2 rooms) via booking.com but when we arrived there, we are asked to pay more for 2nd persons supplement. This is not specify at the time of booking.

Reason 2 - This is meant to be a medical spa? – I have tried to book a massage at 6pm but no one was available and that all were booked up but in reality the masseuse (only one) had gone home. Why couldn't they said that?
The restaurant – we have ordered coffees, water and 2 desserts. Coffees and the bottled water arrived as expected but the desserts had not even after 45 mins. We were told that they are very busy- again- feable excuse. There were only 4 tables occupied including ours out of 15 + tables there. I have tried to cancel the desserts but the waitress have said that they could bring them up to our room. Another 45 mins later, it had finally found its way to our room – very very poor service. 1.5 hours total.

Reason 3 - Now let me get to the temperature in the room. Room Temperature display is at 28 degree Celsius. I had set it a 17 but even after 1.5 hour temperature had not shifted. I call 3 times and went downstairs to the reception but they have said that they have set it to 17 degree Celsius from their end and that it should come down but it hadn't. I did call again somewhat 4 hours later ( 11 pm local time) they have offered us to changed the room - – 6.5 hours later we have checked in where all of our stuff are spread out. I have told the reception staff it is unreasonable for us to pack out luggage at this very late at night and that the manger need to speak to us in the morning about this but no apologies were made at any time and there was no sign of manager in the morning.

My conclusion.
The hotel boasts about their mod con but it is just for the show and that they do not work. The breakfast in the 1st floor is very cold.
If you are looking for comfortable night - Stay Away- there are others hotels. The staff including managers do not care or have any sympathy for the guest. They made us feel very unwelcoming from the start until the check out. No apologies for the all of the above and no appreciated to show that we have spent our good hard earned monies there.

Regarding your booking we can inform the following: reservation that you made on Booking.com , was for two upper rooms in single use, this means two rooms for two people. And at check-in you came 4 people. The price for single use and duble use is difrent in any other hotel. For this reason you've payed the supplement for the second person. Please check your booking. It is interesting that the person who made the booking made an comment on bookink.com : "Probably the best hotel in Turda" which means that we offer even good things not only what you emphasize in this comment. We apologise for all the other inconvenients that you talk about, we want to thank you for the comment and we assure you that we take into account all the views of customers and continuously improve the services we offer. Best regards!

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. The entrance to the hotel looks like it was from the back, we thought we were arriving from the wrong side. The staff hardly spoke English. We got rooms in different parts of the building. One was in the part where the elevator was arriving, but in order to use it you need a card - no card was given, so when coming back from breakfast it was necessary to go down to the ground floor and climb up the stairs. Rooms in the other part of the hotel were without elevator, so we had to carry heavy suitcases to the floor. In one of the rooms the air conditioning was not working at all, so it was hot and the only possibility was to open the window (street noises didnt help with sleeping), in other room it was barely working and was very loud. The rooms are badly maintained. The only positive things - a rather comfortable bed and the rooms we got were big. Considering how much we had to pay and comparing it with the "comfort" of our stay it was definitely too expensive.

Hotel is locater in a quiet area of Turda town, called by locals as “Turda Noua”, the New Turda. In fact this area is the oldest in the town.
In the neighborhood of the hotel is a little park where you can see one of the largest colony of crows in Europe (around 300 nests).

The hotel has a great pool and spa (especially the salt jacuzzi) and we had a comfortable room. However, we waited 1.5 hours for our starter to arrive after ordering dinner at the restaurant at 9pm! In the end, our soups and my trout were very good (wife's pork knuckle and sour cabbage less so, especially as it was almost 11 before it arrived). Not many other eating options nearby as the hotel is about 3 kilometres from the - very attractive and lively - centre of Turda (and similar distance from the salt mine). Also found breakfast OK but fairly basic. The spa is let down by an absence of changing space (or at least we couldn't find it) and some very slippery floor surfaces making it potentially dangerous. Air con was also fairly ineffective in the room, so it was very warm and we didn't sleep well. The lift is operated by room card but it's not obvious and we had the frightening experience of the lights going out after some seconds, so that we had to sort it out in the pitch black.

Carefully designed, tastefully decorated hotel in a pleasant neighborhood. Spotlessly clean, the spacious rooms offer quality comfort. Parking places are reserved for guests in the front of the building, near a small park, where an ancient little church is hiding between old trees. Beautiful breakfast, serving also traditional local products. Patient, friendly, and professional staff. What else? Worlds fail me. Just perfect.

The rooms are the only things that deserve 4 stars. The breakfast was not that great as some were saying in other reviews (not too many options) and the services could be also improved. They have a "room service", which is advertised in the elevator. We ordered something for dinner and they asked us to go down and pick it up. It wasn't a problem to go to the reception for the food, but is this a "room service"? Then the food was not on a plate, as expected, but in a cheap plastic box, everything mixed inside, it looked really disappointing.
The pool is great though and also the sauna.

I had the good fortune to stay at the Sali's hotel and medical spa in a business trip to Cluj Napoca and found the hotel to be very convenient to Cluj yet still out in the country. The facilities and staff were of an excellent standard with the staff being exceedingly helpful. There was a great choice of food in the restaurant although an english menu is sadly lacking the staff were very helpful in helping me choose really good food. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
