Spent a night at The Retreat and heartily recommend it for others as well. Very friendly hosts and spacious room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was nice and gave plenty of fuel for the road ahead. It is a bit difficult to spot by the road as the house is not visible to it.

We found Le Grand Bois on the internet as a general search and the ratings were already good. We needed a base for a long week end to visit various places in the region. What we found was real gem in every way. Nigel and Tina are great hosts; they are friendly, have lots of very useful advice about the area and where to go and really looked after us. Our room was immaculate and the house and gardens are just amazing. We were so well look after from the minute we arrived until we left. We will definitely be back and if you are visiting the region and want somewhere to stay for a few days or longer term then this is the place to go. The swimming pool is huge!

Tina and Nigel are so welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived after a very early Friday morning flight from East Mids and departed for an early flight too, on the Sunday morning. We had dinner both evenings, great hosts, lovely food and ample servings. Just a flying visit to attend a wedding, we would recommend The Retreat to anyone, confident that they would be satisfied.

We are newly weds and were hunting for a place to unwind and split our trip to the south of France, our to young children were enduring our honeymoon with us, we planned to stay here for one night but as a family we felt so much like home we stayed a few more, we went on to Cannes, nice and Monaco but we returned here as the kids could only go on about how they wanted to go back to Nigel and Tina's, so we returned and spent another week with them, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the spacious gardens to run around in whilst we enjoyed the quiet orchards for an afternoon stroll, coupled with the amazing company of the proprietors (it's like they're family) food was fantastic, the jeut and our room were both exquisite and beyond our expectations... We look forward to making this an annual trip!!!
