If you have been searching for a down to Earth simple and charming get away then El Sabenero is where you should go. The Cabinas are rustic, no frills and do not offer room amenities one might find in most high tourist areas, but if you are like us you came to Costa Rica for an authentic experience and that...

During our Costa Rica trip we’ve stayed in like 15 different hotels. We started with El Sabanero and we enjoyed this stay the most. By far! We had our own private cabin with a great view over the valley. We’re very glad we didn’t stay in Tamarindo. But if you want to go on a tour near Tamarindo, it’s only...

We stayed here 6 nights. Everything you see on pics is how it is. This was our first time staying in a hotel similar to this one. We always go for comfort, full service, and well known name. The small cabins are very romantic and cozy. They have a very cute balcony with a great view of the forest. The...

Not far from Tamarindo, complete Pura Vita atmosphere. Laid back staff, beautiful grounds and amazing bungalows. Even the resident animals are the friendless around.

The lodge is situated on the side of a mountain overlooking a beautiful valley - green rolling hills everywhere. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are rustic but very clean and comfortable. It is within an easy drive to Tamarindo beach, but nice to be a little farther away from the beach...

If you want a laid-back experience, away from the city like night life, El Sabanero is the place to go. The thing about this place is that Donald who runs the place makes you feel like you're home. Donald was accommodating in every sense. The food he cooked was so good that my friend and I ate breakfast and dinner...

All the great photos that you see in the internet is true, El Sabanero is a gorgeous place sourrounded by nature!!!! Besides that, Donald (the owner) was very helpful trying to make our stay even better: 1) He picked us in Santa Cruz when we get lost at 2:00AM as we arrived. 2) Rescheduled our airtickets (off course he speaks...

This review is long overdue. My wife and I arrived at El Sabanero at 3AM after a long day of traveling. Harold (one of the owners) was up and ready to receive us and lead our sleepy selves to our cabin. We awoke to a truly spectacular view of the Cañafistula Valley, some of the most amazing breakfasts I've ever...

I'm writing a review not because our stay at El Sabanero was bad, but because I had unrealistic expectations based on other Trip Advisor reviews and their website. This is not a 5 star hotel. The cabins are basic - only a thin sheet, no blankets. The towels were small and thin (and each day one of our pool/beach towels...

Tucked into the hills of Guanacaste, constructed of beautiful wood with red tile roofs, this charming ecolodge is brimming with personality. There are 10 cabins, each sited to offer privacy and unique views. Guests can linger on their front porches or in the well-designed public spaces that include a beautiful pool, hammocks and plenty of options for shade or sun....
