Stayed two nights in this lovely family-run place, where wooden cabins are spaciously set out in the steep forest and gardens, you can birdwatch from your own window as hummingbirds, flycatchers, woodpeckers, thrushes rustle around the trees outside. The lodge organises a range of bird...More
A wonderful place to stay with local flare and service. The rooms were quaint . The food was good and the birding and hummingbirds were everywhere. Feeders are filled for the hummingbirds and you will see 4 species of them there. Magnificents, fiery throated, volcano...More

Serious birders stayed here 2 nights. Great views. Very friendly staff. The family has a very good relationship with local farmers that helps give them some financial support to keep dead trees standing and wild avocados to help with the resplendent quetzals. Numerous crowded hummingbird...More

Happy New Year to you as well. We were four adults traveling ages 48 to 66 and did not experience any headaches during our 2 day stay. We did feel the altitude when walking uphill from the cabins to the lodge feeling slightly more winded then normal but recovered in seconds and was not a big deal at all. We also live close to sea level and researched the topic prior to booking our stay. Enjoy you time there, it is an amazing place particularly for children. It can be quite cool up there, be sure to bring warm clothes.

Our cottage was wonderful, but steep down the hill. We travelled up and down only by 4WD car. About the crib I don't know. About Opal and the access I think I do know. If you are a good hiker the addition of a one year old will not be a problem or matter. It might be more about the grandpa...;-). A stroller will not work. I do too agree with the advice to get a cottage close to the main building. This is a family operated place and I am sure they do everything to make you feel comfortable.
