A very special place tucked in its own mini-valley near the bottom of a perilous road, complete with flowery gardens, a mountain stream, elegance, atmosphere (even at 7000 feet), unique birds and their own rainbow trout (served for dinner). The double-cabins and other buildings are scattered carefully around the hotel grounds, linked by beautifully crafted pink stone paths. The buildings... More

Dear stephane360, I am very happy to know that you enjoyed the experience at Trogon Lodge and for your recommendations about the heating. We keep wood fire stoves at both the Restaurant and the bar, and also have warm blankets at the bar, but we will surely consider your observation. We look forward to your future visit! Nice 1 night get away. We did the bird watching and had a great time. The guide was super enthusiastic and very informative. Beautiful nature surrounding property. The staff is very nice and the food is delicious for breakfast, lunch and dinner although the lunch is quite pricey. The nature trails are beautiful and there is also more waterfalls to... More

We stayed here for five nights in January 2016. I wasn't 100% convinced about staying there from their own website and pictures, but the setting of the hotel is so much better than it appears from them. There is lovely forest immediately adjacent to the hotel with great trails all through it. We saw lots of great birds from the... More

We went to the Trogon Lodge from the Pacific Coast, where the weather was amazing. Here the temperature was 30-40 degrees (Fahrenheit) colder. I do not hold that against them in the review...but bring sweatshirts if visiting. It's an odd place, but very nice. The buildings and grounds have a fairy tale quality about them. Nice views, picturesque. Very basic accommodations. Restaurant is nice but food was average and some of the items were repeated from night before. Very slippery, step walkways with no or few illumination at night, could be hazardous. Staff very attentive and friendly. Bring warm clothes, it gets cold at night

An unforgettable experience in the Cloud Forest of Costa Rica. The staff, cabin, restaurant, lounge and tropical landscaping unbeatable. The entire staff so welcoming and hospitable. “Maybe board games and cards could be available in the front office for check-out? There isn't too much to do at night and other families hogged the one pool table available in the bar. Offer smaller meal options for lunch. This was a ton of food and expensive, although the quality was amazing and so fresh. All the staff was super nice, overall our trip was great! ”
