Just spent 5 nights at this lovely old thatched village pub. We were in the Peter Desmond Pool room which was small but cosy with a sofa and an armchair, there was a good supply of tea , coffee and hot chocolate along with bottled water which were renewed as needed. The breakfasts were excellent and served by the very...

We booked to stay here as we were visiting the excellent IWM Duxford which is just a few miles away. The rooms are located in an annex attached to the inn with just a few steps outside to the inn. Rooms are well decorated with a comfortable bed and each are named after an airman who served at RAF Duxford....

So the highlights of this 2 day weekend stay were many. The warmth and welcome you feel as you step through the door after a long journey down the A1 from Edinburgh; the pleasant atmosphere and friendly bar staff; a cosy room in a neat little block outside the main pub; and now the food and drink. Great breakfasts of...

We visited the John Barleycorn for an evening meal whilst in Cambridgeshire. It was very full, and we had luckily booked ahead, so were shown our table by a very friendly member of staff. The orders were taken quickly and we both enjoyed our meal. We will certainly call here again when in the area. The interior decor matches the...

We searched TripAdvisor for somewhere to eat near Duxford air museum and this pub popped up, so as we left the museum we plugged in the postcode. What a delight. This thatched pub looks attractive from the outside with a smallish car park. We hadn't booked but were lucky enough to get a table in the bar. The bar is...

The John Barleycorn is a great local pub with a simple but delicious menu. Classic burgers and pies through to lovely platters, fish dishes and the best steak salad outside Italy. The staff are attentive and charming and the buzzy atmosphere is created by happy punters. Prices are reasonable. My only slight criticism is that the charcuterie starter platter is...

We stayed here for one night. I would rate it as excellent for friendliness of the staff, the quality of service and the food. For the room that we stayed in (room 3) I would rate it as poor - it was very small and poorly lit, there was a musty, damp smell and the room, especially the bathroom, was...
