Myself and my partner decided to go away for a little break as we hadn’t been away all year due to covid. We booked this B&B due to it being not that far from Devils Bridge. We didn’t expect too much as it’s a 2 star place. How wrong was I? It was a lovely place, a little dated but it’s a very old building. The family that run it were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We had an issue with the shower and mentioned it when we went for breakfast. By the time we’d finished breakfast, the shower was sorted. I think it was us getting a little confused with it. The room we stayed in was really clean and they follow the guidelines really well. We had breakfast and an evening meal and the food was so delicious. Lots of homemade meals. Plenty of choice. I had the gammon and it was huge. Great quality and quantity for the price. The weather wasn’t great during our stay but I bet it’s really nice in the summer. Sitting in the garden and listening to the waterfall at the back of the property. There’s lovely views of the hills and plenty of Red Kites to look out for. I’d definitely be back here as it was a lovely stay and the price was great. …
I stayed overnight at the George Borrow Hotel and was impressed by the customer service and cleanliness, and the quality of the food from a traditional menu. It is a very old hotel (ask about the history) and the furnishings and facilities are a little dated and basic if you are used to modern chain hotels (which I am) but I found that refreshing and it gave the hotel a wonderful charm and character which I enjoyed and preferred to the identikit approach of modern chains. The rooms and public areas were spotless and Covid measures were extensive and I felt very safe. The staff and owner were very friendly and welcoming and I would definitely stay again.
This is far more than a 2 Star rating in terms of cleanliness, service and quality of food. We had a family room, and as 2 adults and 15 year old girls was perfect. The breakfast is again above 2 star. Perfectly cooked to your requirements. The evening meal is also homemade and freshly prepared. We had an amazing three night stay in a lovely part of Wales with fantastic service. Had a few laughs in the lounge too with trivial pursuits but lights out at 11. Highly recommend .
Dogs unwelcome which meant we had to sit outside. Weather awful which meant the experience wasn’t great. Asked if we were ordering food or drinks but not offered a menu. Lady very friendly but seemed unprepared. Wouldn’t go back
Stopped off for some lunch on our way home from holidaying in Wales. Was made to feel very welcome and the home-made food was just lovely, something on the menu for all 4 of us! Social distancing in place, but enough space for 8 tables outside to view the magnificent scenery. Good value for money!
