We stayed here for one night to break a long journey. On arrival, Julie and her husband made us feel very welcome. Our room was in the coach house which was perfect as we had our dog with us. We had drinks and canapés in the cosy bar, followed by a really delicious dinner in the conservatory. In the morning,...

We stayed for 3 nights. The house and grounds are lovely, and the staff welcoming and friendly. We have stayed in other hotels at a similar price level and think this one compares badly. The room was attractive but the bed too narrow and insufficient wardrobe and storage space. Breakfast was fine, but dinner a great disappointment and on two...

Dinner disappointing?!! We know that we cannot please all our guests all the time but there is a constant theme running through our reviews. The quality of the menus, the presentation of the dishes and their tastiness is being praised consistently. The chef does not rest on his laurels either, always striving for that extra something that sets his menus...

Wonderful period house with delightful gardens serving fantastic food. Evening meal was incredible, other guests had similar views. Even breakfast was special. Lots of lounges to relax in and very helpful owners. Only stopped one night on our way back from touring Scotland - on paper this should have been the lowest category for food and accommodation but was miles...

Thank you for such an accolade, we are very glad to hear you enjoyed all aspects of your stay with us. We are situated in a very handy spot for stop-offs to and from Scotland but also within easy reach of the stunning scenery of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, so we hope to see you again if you...

A five-star stay... I need to put the prices up! Only teasing, honestly! Good to know you both enjoyed your stay, and the weather was pretty decent too, which always makes a difference. Mind you, the Eden Valley is blessed - only a quarter of the rainfall that the lakes get and yet we're within a few minutes drive when...

My family come here every year for an annual dinner (we rent a local cottage every year for a week). The staff always remember us and make us feel very welcome each time we arrive. We were there earlier this week for our annual visit. The food is always excellent but I felt the chef had really outdone himself this...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review....it's always good to see you all each year and we're pleased you enjoy your visits so much, it's always nice to sit outside in the summer and enjoy the sights and sounds of our garden! The ducklings normally entertain us too, during July and August....and we don't even...

Based on the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor we chose this hotel as a stopover en-route from Scotland to Heathrow, we were not disappointed, it is a lovely place to stay. The owners were very helpful and friendly, our room in the coach house comfortable, clean and quiet, dinner and breakfast excellent, what more could one ask for? The garden...

This is my third time at this hotel and it always impresses. The classic and comfortable furnishings extend from the reception rooms to the bedrooms. The food is exquisite and the quality of service and presentation is reflected in all areas of the hotel.

We needed somewhere to stay near Penrith on a Saturday night that had a good restaurant and didn't have the 2 night requirement that many of the 'posh' hotels have in the area. This was a real find - very friendly, good room and excellent bathroom (we booked a superior double). We had hoped that the bed would be larger...

Thank you so much for your review and we're so glad you enjoyed your evening at TSH! We went to TSH for our honeymoon last weekend. What an incredible place. The house is perfectly located in a small village near to the A66. Thank you so much for your review - the Eden Valley is a beautiful corner of Cumbria and enables you to explore different landscapes in all directions.....and our own 'Garden in Eden' is a lovely spot to be on a warm Spring day, enjoying a little croquet before a drink on the terrace! Hope you'll be back soon...
