I have returned to the Marchbank on route to Scotland , an ideal stop over point . This day I arrived early and still received a "would you like a pot of tea" greeting. Richard and Family provide a personal service that is second to none. Richards cooking is Masterchef quality .....when will he apply to go on the show...

My wife and I went to the Marchbank Hotel this year by way of a change. The food was superb. I started with scallops, followed with venison medallions for my main meal. My wife's starter was lobster, followed by a main of salmon. We both finished with sticky toffee pudding, which was beautifully cooked, very light and very flavoursome. We...

We visit this area 4 or 5 times a year and have tried all the hotels in the surrounding area. The Marchbanks stands head and shoulders above the rest. A family hotel which is friendly and spotlessly clean. The food is excellent and the rooms comfortable and great value.

We stopped here again on September 12th on our way back from holiday in Scotland. We stayed in a beautiful room at the front of the hotel with an antique four poster bed. Although tired from a long journey we received a warm welcome from Mr and Mrs Moore who recognised us from our previous visits. We were looking forward...

My wife and I spent the first 2 nights of our holiday here. I can't say that there was anything particularly wrong but we stayed at better places for the rest of the holiday (some cheaper some more expensive). The room was spotless and a good size and very comfortable however there was no shower over the bath so when...

Just returned from a stay at the Marchbank, much to our surprise we were shown to an annexe called The Bothey, what an absolute delight wholly self contained and of high. quality. Richard is a great host and damn good chef as well. Will we return? You bet!!!

A very pleasant experience in a lovely setting, created by an attentive young waiter who was keen to please and a chef who had a similar outlook. My partner was not too impressed with her food, but mine was excellent being hot, tasty, and plenty off it. Reasonable prices for food and drink, nice ambiance, location and setting. I would...

My husband & I had a lovely evening meal at this hotel. The food was beautifully presented & good portions. All the food is locally sourced. My husband is on a special diet but nothing was too much trouble & he was able to really enjoy a meal suitable for him. I would definitely recommend this hotel restaurant & it...
