If you like a typical Bed and Breakfast you will like the Cross Keys. It is in a beautiful part of Scotland and a small but nice village. There is a very good breakfast served and a bar to meet and chat with other guests. Unfortunately my bed was very uncomfortable, with springs coming through. I didn't feel at ease...

We stayed at this hotel on a motorbike tour. It is a lovely old building and the room was clean and comfortable. The owner and her assistant were very friendly and helpful and looked after us well, including drying our bike gear after a very wet ride. There is a nice cosy bar and the food was well cooked and...

We were camping locally and popped in for a beer [ Theakstons :) ] and because it was doggo-friendly. Although it was a Tuesday and a quiz night was due to start, we had time to eat and would recommend the steak pie. We felt welcomed and comfortable and the food was good value for money, freshly-made and tasty. The...

Just back from staying at the Cross Keys with a group of friends. We were in the middle of a motorcycle trip in the area and couldn't have been better catered for. Susan, the owner was there on arrival to greet us and make sure we were settled in, as did her two lovely dogs. The rooms were spacious, clean...

I stopped here on a motorbike tour and found the owner pleasant and very helpful. Her two dogs were cute and entertaining. This is a dog friendly hotel to the max! Food in restaurant was excellent and pub is 17 century and full of cozy atmosphere. Rooms are clean but could do with a little renovation but was fine for...

We stayed here as part of a mini motorcycle tour of the Borders. We had a nice warm welcome, the room was clean and spacious and the evening meal and breakfast was lovely. The bar didn't open til 7pm and there is nothing else around. It's fine for a night but it was a little too quiet for us

Stayed here on business trip. Welcome was nice, room clean and comfortable but bathroom needs carpet removed. Wifi wasn't great in room and caused a bit of bother as I had work to do. Bar does not open until 6 which would be ok if there was access to the lounge. But had to sit in bedroom perched on end...

Situated in a lovely quiet location this hotel is a good base to explore from. The rooms were basic but clean and good value for money. Food was good, particularly breakfast. Would recommend for a short stay. The surrounding area has stunning scenery with lots of places to visit.

Excellent short stay in the Cross Keys where we were so well looked after by the staff even in the absence of the owner. Would thoroughly recommend as a great base to explore this outstanding area. The food was excellent and our room so quiet and comfortable.
