Detailed Reviews
We arrived after purchasing the planet voucher stay for 2 for £30 which included breakfast. As we got to the hotel it was in the middle of the coronavirus issues and it was announced that all pubs and restaurants were closing within 24 hrs. The hotel were great and so accommodating. The heating wasn't working in the room, the staff were so friendly and helpful and provided a portable heater that did the trick.
Breakfast was lovely and cooked from fresh, there had implemented safety and hygiene regimes to protect staff and guests. I would stay there again.

Well what can I say, this was an amazing stay from start to finish, upon arrival the carpark looked a little bit dark and we worried it would be a bad hotel, we walked into the hotel & wow! Absolutely amazing! Decorated to a very high standard we were greeted by Theresa on reception, very polite & nice & extremely helpful we thought she had worked there years when actually after chatting to her a while she’s quite new couldn’t have been more helpful than she was, we decided to upgrade our room to one with a view she did this no problem.
we got to our room the room was beautiful very comfortable bed amazing view kettle towels even a fan, great working tv, very warm & cosy the heating was on, we had a bath and shower in our room water was lovely and warm soap shower gel etc, a kettle with tea & coffee making facilities, the view of the Humber & bridge was lovely & very calming had a great sleep woke feeling refreshed not forgetting the seating bench in front of the window where you could sit & enjoy the view.
At 10am we went down for breakfast into the food area again the decor was lovely & a great view of the bridge, hot drinks available as well as a choice of 4/5 juices, best breakfast we had seen cooked breakfast as well as breakfast bars croissants & a big variety of spreads jams etc for toast also & lovely fruit salad yogurt just everything imaginable, great breakfast well enjoyed by us.
After breakfast and checkout we went to sit in the bar area because we really didn’t want to leave we were politely greeted by Brian who was very friendly & nothing was too much trouble (he even went outside in the rain to get ice for my drink! Thanks Brian) we then decided on a hot drink before leaving I opted for hot chocolate with cream which was amazing best I’ve ever had & I like hot chocolate!
We were treated so great by every member of staff we saw service with a smile everyone spoke, great staff but please send our massive thanks to Theresa & Brian.
Spoke to the manager on leaving the hotel & what a lovely guy.
Fantastic experience missing the place already & will definitely return. Jodie & James

My husband had booked an afternoon tea for my birthday. The barman gave us a choice of 2 tables – there were none left near the large picture windows overlooking the bridge. There was no choice of tea, just breakfast tea or coffee.
There are very strange cups & saucers. They are very modern looking with a twisted handle which is definitely designed for right handed people. Unfortunately we are both left handed and these were not suitable at all! I asked for a ‘normal’ cup & saucer each. I was brought a mug for my tea (not exactly classy with afternoon tea) and my husband got a cup & saucer for his coffee!
The cake stand arrived with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones, and small dish of jam & cream. All were tasty (apart from the chewy pastrami) but we could have done with more jam and cream! We couldn’t eat all the cakes so asked for a box to take them home in, and sign a disclaimer form too!
We were there quite a while and I noticed that the staff left the dirty tables for a long time before clearing them. Another couple came in and had to sit at a table covered with the dirty pots and debris from someone else’s tea.
It was good value for the price (£22 special offer for 2 people), although we upgraded with a glass of prosecco each. Could try harder though on the small details.

The hotel staff were so helpful and accommodating it's a pity some of the basics let them down.
The room was unbearably hot and did not have air conditioning. The windows for safety reasons , didn't open enough to let air circulate.
The noise from doors opening and shutting at all hours of the night along the corridor woke me up on numerous occasions each night and the general banging at 6finished my night's sleep.
In fairness to the occupants, it was the fault of the very noisy door closures which were impossible to close quietly...I know I tried it out!!!
The Covid rules which meant our room was not serviced during our 3night stay meant the bathroom was not as clean as my one at home and having to order toilet rolls, paper cups, tea/ coffee remotely or having to go to reception meant it felt far from a 3* experience.
Yes, the hotel is a bit tired but those terrific staff deserve a better working environment.

Had 2 rooms 1 for husband and myself and 1 for our daughter son in law and grandson. Our room was ground floor as I am disabled and was close to entrance, lounge and restaurant. The was was modern clean with a very comfortable bed deep mattress and crisp white bed linen. The wet room perfect and spotlessly clean and modern with complimentary toiletries. Complimentary tea and coffee that we had replenished by friendly accommodating staff. The room warm good quality blackout curtains,a spectacular view through our window seat overlooking the grounds and Humber Bridge. The lounge comfortable with bifold doors overlooking the views and Bridge again with an outside terrace which would be lovely in warm weather.
The breakfast was delicious,,we were seated by friendly staff again to our table everything fully explained. The quality of food was superb with so much choice and ample tea and coffee served in teapots and coffee jugs bu the staff.
My daughter and I had afternoon tea the previous day and again was delicious and all homemade. The emphasis here is to make your stay as comfortable as possible with the caring staff throughout whether it be front desk or restaurant. This makes the hotel so good to stay and thank you so much for this. Just a couple of things that would make it absolutely perfect would be to have a small play are for smaller children (we had our grandson who is 2) to occupy and entertain them.
And the food and bar prices are a little expensive and beer at £6 a pint!! To be expected but not quite so much.
All in all a relaxing place to stay, modern and comfortable the breakfast to die for and amazing caring warm friendly staff that nothing is any trouble for them to fulfill your stay.So thank you so much Hallmark Hull we have re booked already for my husband's birthday in May.xxx😁😁

I booked into your Hotel on Tuesday 8th March 2022 for one night stay. The circumstances of my stay being I had been called to go to the hospital to be with my Father who was in his final hours suffering with cancer. I had a long journey and spent hours that day by my Father's bedside in the hospital. I checked into the hotel at around 9.30pm after a very arduous and distressing day. I was told by Reception that the cost of breakfast was £10 if booked in advance. I didn't feel I wanted to commit myself to pre-booking as I may be called back to the hospital during the night at any time. The Receptionist said if I came down for breakfast without an advance booking it would be £15! I went off to my room over the threadbare carpets along the corridor only to find my key wouldn't work. I returned to Reception and the gentleman told me they had issues with the keys. He did something to the key and sent me off to try again. It again didn't work. I returned yet again to Reception and the Receptionist got another key and came with me to open my door. I was grateful to finally be in my room. There was a dead fly on the window sill, the paint was peeling off the radiator, the carpet was filthy and the room was in desperate need of decorating. I was exhausted and wanted to have a bath and go to bed. The hot tap on the bath was extremely stiff, I put the cold tap on low and thought I had managed to force on the hot tap. I unpacked my bags and went to my bath which was now full of cold water. I tried every way I could but could not get any water from the hot tap. I used the sink and went to bed. I had a call to say my Dad had passed away. I was then kept awake with the cold tap on the bath dripping constantly which I couldn't stop. The room was also cold and I didn't see a thermostat.
in the morning I went to checkout and expressed my unhappiness to the new morning Receptionist who said she would report my concerns and gave me your business card saying you would contact me, so far, I have heard nothing from you. I am very unhappy about my stay especially as I paid £89 to stay in a hotel which is in such poor condition and provided little in the way of comfort.

We found this hotel well placed to use as a base, our standard dog friendly room ( 109 ) was well equipped, with the fan an absolute necessity due to the room temperature.
The hotel is extremely dog friendly.
During our stay there were unfortunate shortages of evening menu options, we found the food available quite expensive.
The staff are extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

This is going to be a long one but only because there are a lot of people who deserve recognition at the hotel. I stayed here for two weeks so I met a lot of them. All the people on reception were extremely helpful, especially Karen. On my first night Dave and Luke on nights were great offering to help look for toothpaste as I was an idiot and forgot. On further nights Owen was equally as helpful getting my water and ice from the bar. Dan and Meg at breakfast were always super friendly but how anyone can be that enthusiastic in the morning baffles me. On the bar Mike and Mike were always funny, as was Sam however he could do with buying aduld sized shirts in the future. We had a limited food menu however I understand that was what we had payed for so couldn't complain and it was always good with Damien and Martin cooking.
All the restaurant staff were fantastic. Service may have been slow at times but that's expected with a lot of people eating. Damien looked after my colleague on her birthday and for that I am very greatful. Dayne was helpful after a misunderstanding of drinks sizes. Sam, Ben (or Percy apparently), Katie S and Brad all were great. Even with rough shoulders Alice C was ace and Alice S seemed to have things running pretty well (despite never getting me the heater for my room.) Overall, it really was the team that made the stay and when I come back to try this Christmas menu that is apparently great I hope I can stay in Narnia again.
Cheers for everything guys!

We had a lovely weekend staying at the hotel for my Sisters wedding but unfortunately the hotel is poorly designed for anyone with a disability or the elderly. My Mum who has breathing difficulties and my 87 year old Grandad really struggled as there were stairs everywhere and the stairs leading to the wedding ceremony room where very steep. There could be a stair lift installed which would make things much easier for those who need it. I would like to give a massive thank you to the young waiter called Sam with blonde hair who was absolutely fantastic. He was working behind the bar, serving food and was helpful and pleasant to everyone he spoke to and worked until 1.30am to then be serving us our breakfast the next morning at 9am with the same fantastic attitude. He deserves a big thank you from the hotel and in my opinion a bonus in his wages as im not sure the wedding would have ran as smoothly without him there.
