we stayed in this large old farmhouse after a long and tiring walk from Osmotherly and Claybank Top. Dave is a great host, very welcoming and helpful. He picked us up from and dropped us back to Claybank Top, took us to the Black Swan pub (and bought us the first round). Upon arrival he welcomed us in a large...

We were walking the Cleveland Way and Dave came to pick us up and take us back to the B&B. Very freindly welcome, Dave was extremely accomodating. The farmhouse is large and comfortable. Its a bit tired in places and the bedding could do with updating. But that said it was clean and presentable, the breakfasts were good and hearty....

An excellent stop on the Coast to Coast (or Cumbria Way). Your host, Dave is a genuinely friendly and colourful character who welcomes you into his home like you are a long lost mate. A cuppa and a chat in the lounge and hang out if you want. The B&B is a large old farmhouse and the rooms are huge...

We arrived wet and tired - day three of the Cleveland Way - and were picked up by Dave. Then Dave made us a great mug of tea. Then he took us to the pub. Then he brought us back. All great. It's a great Victorian pile, if a little quirky. I liked the lurcher on the sofa, but some...

Wet and muddy from walking Osmotherly to Claybank Top, kinda used to taking of my boots and gaiters before going into the house. Not here, make yourself at home lads, two mugs of tea and a packet of digestives. I've just read the review that talks about "Diamond Dave", and I'll stick with that too. The house is stacked with...

Stopping at 9 different places on our Cleveland way walk. We were lucky this was the 2 night stop. The host Dave, is a great chap! Chatty witty and very helpful. Gave us lifts everywhere. Dog friendly and no extra "locally paid" surcharge. Clean and comfortable. Nice breakfasts, and sandwiches for lunch if required! Handy for the local village pub,...

Great b and b with a fantastic welcome and a host who went out of his way to look after us. Very memorable place. Dave recommended a local pub which was also exceptionally good and very reasonable so we had a fantastic evening. The b and b facilities are very good .

Stayed here on our coast to coast walk. Dave picked us up from the car park at claybank and was the perfect host - someone in previous reviews had nick named him diamond dave and that has stuck with us too! It is like stepping back in time and one could feel as though you have stepped back into an...

My sister and I were picked up at Clay Bank Top, at the finish of our days walk, by the host. Superb setting, with a lovely big bedroom, with en suite facilities. A fabulous breakfast was served next morning, with the option to make yourself a packed lunch. The host transported us back and forth to a pub for our...

A place to stay if you are open to the unusual. The house is full of character and charm with prints, pictures and items chosen from local auctions all reflecting the tastes of the owner. Good food, clean rooms and a do it yourself approach to packed lunches. A great change from the conventional and bland. Highly recommended.
