Arrived at Clay bank Top after a glorious walk though over the Wainstones. The Hotel is a few miles of the path and a phone call and they pick you up and return you to the path the next morning. Staff very helpful and rooms good. Free Wi Fi and a good pint. Stayed before on walking trips and hopefully... More

Great Broughton is a lovely spot and the Wainstones is a decent enough establishment... Just a bit over priced for what you get. Friendly bar staff though. So with the setting and nice staff it is worth checking out just bring your credit card...

Having read several review about "tired" furnishings I was apprehensive about staying here - but these fears were unfounded. Some of the public areas are a little worn, but not excessively, and my room and bathroom were fresh and clean. Rooms have tea making facilities and good wifi. The two rooms I saw were not large, but fine for one... More

We had the burger and the chicken breast. Both were excellent, portion sizes were huge, plenty of salad and veg! Prices very reasonable and the service at the bar and table was good. Only small drawback was that the place was quite empty and very quiet, felt as though we had to keep our voices down! Would return though!

A nice hotel in dire need of modernising. The rooms are a good size (at least ours was) and the bathroom was very new. The restaurant was very 1980's but the food was good and reasonably priced. A good refurb would make the a great location. The staff were fantastic as was the food.

I stayed here one night on my recent coast to coast walk, rating it 7/10. More a 'city' hotel it lacked the character of some of the other places I stayed and missed the personal touch from the larger numbers of staff. That said everything worked great - large clean rooms, bath and shower, solid wifi and good food.

Pleasant place to stay.bath appreciated after a day walking. Food good in restaurant. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. If you are walking C2C they will pick you up t save you asking along a busy main road, and deliver you back next morning.

Stayed here one night on a Coast to Coast walk. They picked us up from Clay Bank Top as arranged and returned us there the next morning to continue our walk. The room was clean but looked a little worn and had little character as compared to the many smaller Inns and B&Bs we had been enjoying. The breakfast next... More

I think this is a hotel for walkers who maybe are maybe not too fussy at the end of a tiring day. For the rest of us it is a very tired hotel - and possibly the most uncomfortable bed we have slept in as the springs were pushing through the mattress - I am sure there are rooms with... More
