So it's a little rough round the edges. Warm hosts. Lovely friendly locals. Excellent whisky. This is my second visit to Helmsdale and 5 years ago I loved the welcome in the pub and 5 years later the pub had been refurbished but the warm atmosphere remains. It's not posh. It's not a vike chain. It's a spit n sawdust...

Called in on my travels around Scotland. Welcomed and offered room 3, "down the corridor that is work in progress". No corridor light outside my room and had to fiddle with key and mobile torch. Door opened into a very bright and comfortable ensuite bedroom. Sofa provided with two single beds. Ate in hotel bar snug as restaurant not open....

I stayed here and I thought it was great for the modest price. Yes it is a little tired around the edges but the bed was clean and I enjoyed the bar and the meals! Location in the centre is just great and the bar has plenty of local characters for entertainment. When the sun shines - occasionally - Helmsdale...

We booked the room at the Belgrave Arms around two weeks in advance. It seemed to be the only place in Helmsdale that still had vacancies at that time, and at 90 GBP per night the double room wasn't exactly cheap. When we got there, the place seemed nice enough. The downstairs area seemed to have been refurbished not too...

Couldn't abide the midges any longer living in a tent so took off to town and stayed at this hotel. Now £35 for a single room with breakfast in an hotel is just great....once paid that 10 years ago simply for a B&B. Had an excellent evening with the local lads in the separate bar, good beer and excellent company....

Stayed here on a cycling tour with a mate and it was just what we needed. The owners were very accommodating and even kept food aside for us after we phoned ahead. The evening meal and breakfast were very good and portions were generous. The room was dated but comfortable and very reasonable for the price. A good pint in...

We stopped off at the Belgrave Arms during our motorbike tour around Scotland for a mid afternoon break. Having had a cooked breakfast that morning , we didn't want lunch and noticed that they served afternoon tea for only £9.99 for 2 people, assuming that for this price it would be a few small pastries and a pot of tea....

The Belgrave Hotel is an old building with a massive need for lots of money to be spent on it. Broken glass in Windows, cracked mirror, poorly maintained. The carpets in the corridor to our room was not fixed properly and was a definite trip hazard. Being in poor condition was not compatible to the £90 we had to pay...

Have not stayed in this hotel, but after coming in for a few meals and then a few drinks in the bar with the friendly locals, decided this was the place to retire to with my Jamaican wife who also fell in love with the place, steaks are cooked just to your liking and as I have mine blue this...
