Upon entering the Navidale it us like arriving in a different time zone. This is not a bad thing, It is just very eclectic and rustic. The owner is welcoming. They only serve an evening table d'hote menu for guests, but it was good. We had our Labrador with us and she was made to feel welcome. We stayed there...

We stopped without a booking - only planned on staying one night ended up staying two night but would of stayed longer if could and hoping to go back this year. Lovely building, great host, lovely room and great service. We had room on the back of the building and it was lovely view and large room. I could live...

Stayed here for four nights whilst heading to Orkney, don't arrive before 16.00hours as that is check in time. The hotel well signposted as you leave (northbound) Helmsdale on the A9. You receive a very warm welcome from owners on arrival, the hotel is like stepping back in time but saying that the rooms are well appointed, we had a...

We rented a lovely cottage 10 mins walk from this hotel, their website clearly states open to non residents but better to book. We popped down one afternoon to find door locked, we took note of tel number and called later only to be told, quite rudely, that they do not cater for non residents. Disappointed as it looks lovely....

We originally stayed at the Navidale House Hotel in the late 1980's on a motorbike trip around Scotland and were impressed by its charm and location. We visited for a second time last weekend and were similarly impressed. Although the hotel has been renovated (en suite bathrooms have been installed and the dining and bar area has been changed) it...

What a lovely place to stay when in Helmsdale. Old fashioned charm which is comfortable and wraps around you like a well worn cosy blanket. Don't expect all mod cons, wi-fi can be intermittant and phone signals are best gained in the car park-but when in Helmsdale those things are par for the course. But if there is anything you...

A highly recommended stop on travels roughly 50 miles or so south of John O'Groats, in a historic old building with lots of period furniture and décor, great views and friendly hosts. The building was once a hunting lodge for the Duke of Sutherland (he - of Highland clearnaces and it is alleged he kept a couple of "ladies" in...

We had a couple of days there recently. The food was excellent and we had a really warm welcome. There are stunning views over the firth. The room was very comfortable. Decor is Victorian with many interesting pieces, especially if you like china and/or paintings. We were there for work, and would definitely like to go back with a little...
