This restaurant has the best food in the Cotswolds - we visited it on our first day, and went back a few days later. The restaurant is always completely booked, so you need to organize the meal a few days ahead. All the main courses and desserts were great, but Granny G's toffee dessert was special.

The Horse and Groom is a quintessential English pub. Firstly, the staff are all quite superb and cannot be faulted. Secondly, for a pub, it is essential that the beer is well-maintained at the right temperature, and "Jouster" - a local ale- was an excellent example of a 4.0% ale perfect for lunch; and thirdly, the food must be excellent....

Loved this place and the dynamic menu! Staff were welcoming and very accommodating - they found room to seat is early despite it being a busy Saturday night. We both had the steak with dauphinois and rocket and Parmesan salad. Beautiful food. Had a great evening and will be returning soon!

After weeks touring Europe and a few days in London we wanted a little wind down chill time before heading back to Oz. We were not disappointed and wished we stayed longer! Gorgeous character filled original village pub. Warm, clean, comfy room and bed. The breakfast is to die for!! The Best we'd had during our time away complete with...

Visited this restaurant for the third time, and once again it did not disappoint. It was a special ladies lunch for a friends birthday celebration. The food as always was amazing, lots of choice and variety. The menu is not extensive but would appeal to all. The potato dauphinoise was probably the best I have ever eaten.

The Horse and Groom came as a recommendation and it lived up to expectation. A lovely pub, where the staff were warm and welcoming and the food was delicious. The menu is only small but all of the options looked as delicious as the next. Well worth a visit and you must book in advance.

Last visited in 2008, and just returned from our second stay. I'm happy to say that the H&G hasn't dropped a stitch. Bourton-on-the-Hill remains a sleepy little village and the H&G is essentially the only commercial establishment in town. One change is that Bourton Hall (a 5 minute walk) has opened its garden for tours since our last visit. We...

Our family of 4 had dinner here 2 nights ago. Our reservation was at 7.15pm and we arrived about 15 mins earlier. The car park next to the pub was already full, and so we double parked as advised by the staff. Check in is at the bar and menu is on the chalkboard next to the bar. You are...

Stayed overnight at The Horse and Groom as a base for discovering the Cotswolds. Upon arrival we were greeted cheerfully by the manager Richard, who was extremely helpful. Room clean and spacious, fresh milk for tea and homemade flapjacks in room (nice touch). Ate in the restaurant in evening, delicious, finished off with a wonderful breakfast the following morning. Good...

Very comfortable and attractive rooms over the gastropub. We spent two nights here while walking through the Cotswolds. Our room had French doors looking out onto the garden, and a nicely appointed ensuite bath. Everything has been updated, while maintaining the old world charm.
