Our french/american family spent 3 wonderful days in Les Jardins du Timel in August 2013. Cozy, beautiful, well-located, and very welcoming hosts with lots of spot-on advice on where to eat/what to see etc. Our kids (age five and seven) did not want to live! The breakfast is excellent as well.

This was a wonderful, homey place to stay. The room was large and well appointed, the hosts very gracious. We stayed two nights and toured the Finistere area from there. The location may not be exactly central for that area..but the hosts, the room, the value and the excellent seafood restaurant nearby made up for it.

We spent one lovely night at Les Jardins de Timel, in the Orient room. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful touches like a carafe of fresh water, a tea and coffee maker, free wifi, and information about local restaurants. The bathroom is large and modern, with a walk-in shower. The common areas (living and dining rooms) are also comfortable and tasteful, with a nice selection of English and French books, a CD player. Breakfast was generous and of high quality, including home made crepes and jams, fresh bread, local yogurt, fresh fruit. The entire house is impeccably clean and is situated in a small hamlet on a dirt road off of a small road - about 10 minutes from the center of Clohars-Carnoet. It is restful and quiet atmosphere. The hosts are wonderful - they live in a house next to the B&B and made the stay even nicer with their advice about the area. This B&B is truly a gem - it would be worth spending a few days in the area just for the pleasure of a few nights at Les Jardins de Timel!

We spent three nights at Les Jardins de Timel and had a fabulous time. The property is absolutely gorgeous, as was the room we stayed in, L'Orient. We didn't get to use the pool at all but it looked good. The area is quite rural so having a car is a must. You can then visit some of the many adorable towns nearby. We took trips to Pont Aven (touristy but cute), L'Orient (very ugly, but the Festival Interceltique was kinda fun in a kitschy way), and Quimperle (adorable medieval village). Also, we had what I deemed to be the best meal of our entire trip at a restaurant recommended to us by our hosts -- Rive Gauche, a 5 minute drive from Les Jardins de Timel. The breakfast was lovely and our hosts would stay and chat with us throughout breakfast. They are very nice and accommodating. They went out of their way to help us with directions and recommendations on where to go. There is a little kitchen with a fridge which is especially nice for those tourists, like us, who relished going to the grocery store to stock up on local delicacies. It allowed us to have several lovely picnics / snacks during car trips that we probably would have otherwise not been able to do. All in all, highly recommended and I would definitely return if I were in the region again. A great value for the price which I can only explain by the fact that they have only been open for a few years and are still somewhat "undiscovered."

My wife and I stayed at Les Jardins de Timel for four nights, and would gladly have stayed the whole of the summer as it was thoroughly delightful! The B&B is located just outside of Clohars-Carnoet, about ten minutes drive from the coast and some wonderful sandy beaches. We were met by one of the owners who showed us to our room - one of four in the B&B. We stayed in 'L'Orient' and each room has its own distinctive charm and beautiful pieces of furniture. Ours had a lovely writing desk and a four-poster bed. Blissfully there was no TV, which added to the relaxing 'haven' atmosphere of the place. The building, a converted barn, contained many original features (such as exposed beams and lime and hemp plaster) as well as many new-looking modern elements. Despite being converted in 2008, it had no signs of wear-and-tear at all. The owners have not only retained the original features but given a nod to 21st-century eco-housing by insulating the roof with recycled newspaper. An additional feature was access to a self-catering kitchen in another (partially) converted barn near to a gorgeous flower garden. This contained plenty of crockery and was a welcome surprise element of our stay. The wifi in Les Jardins de Timel was free and fast. Breakfasts were fresh bread, yoghurts and fruits, orange juice and tea/coffee. The preservatives were all delicious. Breakfast was a very convivial affair, with plenty of chatting away in both French and English. I have never felt so at ease in a B&B: it was like being at home. The owners are two of the nicest, most helpful people I have had the pleasure of meeting in the hospitality industry. Their restaurant recommendations were excellent, and we greatly enjoyed talking with them. Apparently a very small proportion of the guests who stay at Les Jardins de Timel are British or American, which is a shame. English speakers are missing out on a jewel in Brittany's crown! This is an exceptional barn-conversion B&B, a wonderful fusion of beautiful furniture, preserved original features and wonderful modern elements.
