This is a beautiful hotel in a fabulous location approximately a 10 minute walk from Karon Beach. The villas are set on a hillside above the bay and cannot be seen from the road. We were in room 3109 overlooking the Papaya pool in a basic room which was far from basic! The room was large with a comfortable bed, desk, small sitting area and separate wardrobe and storage areas. The bathroom had both a bath and shower and again was a good size. There were patio doors to a large two sided balcony with seating and lovely views of the pool and surrounding jungle foliage. The whole resort is landscaped and well looked after - all the swimming pools have sunbeds and you don't feel 'on top' of other guests. The villas are placed in a jungle setting so you don't feel overlooked and the impact on the environment is minimal. All the staff are friendly, attentive and professional. Breakfast can get busy but the staff clear tables efficiently and there's an excellent selection of food for all tastes. We did the Thai night at the hotel which again was good value for money with a number of choices of food and BBQ fish/meat. The restaurant meals and pool food were all good value and tasty. Happy hour is 4-6pm at the pool bars with all drinks half price. The resort is on a steep hill and would not be suitable for those with walking limitations or health issues where stairs are a concern. There is a hotel shuttle bus for around the resort but the walk to Karon centre takes about 10 minutes and the shuttle bus does not run there after 6pm which might be a bit limiting for some people. We loved the resort and were thankful it was away from Karon town itself which was not to our taste (a bit touristy for us). The beach itself is beautiful. …
We came to the Mandarava for our honeymoon and hope to come again! We absolutely loved our time at the resort. All the staff were so friendly, cheerful and helpful and the food and drinks we had each day were delicious. The pools were gorgeous, as were the sunsets and the gardens.
The staff were absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived we were given complimentary drinks, they even carried our heavy luggage up the stairs to our room. The buffet breakfast has a large selection of food and fresh fruit. The thai restaurant is phenomenal. Service the whole trip was excellent. There is a complimentary shuttle bus that drops you at Karon Beach - it runs at 10am and 11am, and again at 4pm and 6pm. The bus also returns you to the resort at 10:10am and 11:10am etc. The concierge desk will also call taxis and will organise any day trips. We booked the elephant sanctuary through the resort.
My wife and I came to Phuket and met up with some of our family who live in SE Asia. We had two adjoining rooms, and we stayed as a three-generation family. We were impressed with everything, starting with the large and well equipped room with excellent bathroom(s) and the great environment, enhanced by the careful planting of vegetation which screened our views and gave a great sense of privacy. The rooms are spread out in separate buildings on the hillside and there are pools and waterfalls as well as copious tropical plants and trees. The hotel team showed great flexibility in accommodating the second part of our family at short notice when the hotel was initially full, and putting us in adjoining rooms. We found all the staff, without exception, friendly warm and forthcoming, and also very responsive to our needs. We had a hugely comprehensive and first rate breakfast every day which is highly recommended. We also had some excellent meals in both restaurants and we particularly liked the Thai restaurant, especially if sitting outside where there is a great atmosphere. We experienced significant issues following a meal that we had at a 3rd party establishment that was nothing to do with the hotel. Both of the women in our party became significantly unwell and my wife was not well enough to travel the following day, necessitating a rebooking of our flight and an extra night in the hotel. The reception team could not have been more helpful and evidenced great kindness and support and flexibility. We were able to remain in our room, and they took active steps to ensure my wife’s well being. The hotel is a great option for Karon Beach and its location above and back from the beach is a major asset. It is a haven above the frenetic beach below and it is an enjoyable short walk up a slight hill. We were most impressed, and very much recommend it.…
A beautiful dream that’s come true! We felt like home! All the services they proposed were excellent! 10 minute walking from the seaside, but they also offer a bus service four times a day! Food is very good and with an excellent quality: you can taste Thai food but also international, or you can enjoy your dinner in you room.. I loved it! If you go there you have just to have a little bit of patience to speak with them in English, because they speak a very little bit, but with a smile you will get in touch with them and understand all!
We had a nice three-night stay at this property. The pool suite was amazing, private, and luxurious. You could basically roll out of bed into the private pool. The bathroom was huge and well designed, comfy bed, and solid wi-fi. Breakfast was yummy, with a barista, egg, and noodle stations with a variety of options, including vegan. The staff was very helpful and responsive (they had already added a bed for our son at no charge). Arranging airport transport was easy, as was the C19 test we needed to return to China. The resort is not on the beach, but most are not in Karon. There is a shuttle, but we walked there and back each day. There are several good restaurants (we liked Sweet Chili the best) and family-friendly massage places (one cheaper and one fancy). The public beach on the north end (near the hotel) was quieter and less busy. A bit of a hike up to the rooms, but a good way to burn off the pad Thai and sticky rice. Overall a great stay.…
We arrived from being at another hotel on the island. Having looked at multiple reviews etc we picked this one for location and chilled vibes. We received a room upgrade when we arrived which was lovely as we had an excellent room but as we explored the resort we noticed the hotel was quite tired and in need of tlc. Although we had a nice stay and staff were friendly but we would consider other hotels if staying in Phuket. however it is good value but would say more 4 star than 5 In terms of location it is a 10 min + walk to the beach which is actually quite nice as you are away from the craziness that is Karon. There is a shuttle but be warned the resort is very hilly
We had a great time at this resort, the rooms are amazing, we had room 6110 for two weeks and it was so nice and quite and private as it was on the end of a block of swim up rooms. The staff here are all wonderful and very respectful, nothing is too much trouble and the hospitality is outstanding. The resort is on a hillside and when I arrived I did think I’d struggle as I have heart issues and joint problems but this is nothing to worry about as the hotel provides a tuk tuk service 24 hours a day to help guests get to their rooms, it’s a wonderful service and I used this when coming back after being in the town. There are so many great places to eat locally and a fabulous massage place where you can be spoiled and taken care off, a little walk and your into the local town. The town is busy and vibrant. I would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone needing a relaxing break. Thank you Mandarava for a great room and great hospitality…
Amazing stay in Thailand. Definitely recommend to visit. Beautiful hotel on a mountain with a green area. Cozy large rooms. Attentive staff. Excellent logistics. Varied breakfast. Wonderful vacation. Thank you.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Mandarava. The resort itself was beautiful, with tranquil waterfalls and pools. Whilst the steep hills and steps weren't a problem for us, it may be for those with mobility issues, however there was the option to use the hotel transport to get to rooms if needed. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble at all. We went bed and breakfast only, but the breakfast was amazing - I'm uncertain why others have stated that there wasn't enough choice, as you could easily have breakfast, lunch and dinner from the excellent and varied selection on offer. I can't think of anything that they didn't have. The infinity pools and poolside bars were amazing, and whilst we only used it once as we preferred to walk, the transport to the beach was excellent also. There really isn't anything negative to say about the hotel, although a late night bar would have been nice but as there were so many places to go to locally it wasn't a huge issue. We had a lovely holiday, so thank you to all at the Mandarava who helped us enjoy our stay. …
