The Lighthouse Motel is the perfect location any time of year to escape from life's stresses and relax. Our property fronts directly on the ocean overlooking Qualicum Bay and the Strait of Georgia, Hornby Island and the snow capped Coastal Mountain Range. Qualicum Bay is approximately 10 minutes north of Qualicum Beach. We offer affordable accommodation that is perfect for couples, or individuals looking for some rest and relaxation. We are pet friendly and allow one dog per unit. We do not allow cats. We are centrally located for day trips to the Parkville-Qualicum area and Horne Lake, Tofino and Ucluelet and Mount Washington in the Courtenay/Comox Valley. Hiking, kayaking, skiing and snowboarding, golfing and fishing are an easy drive. For those who just want to enjoy the lovely sea breeze & fresh sea air, sit on our expansive seawall enjoy a good book, take in the view, watch eagles, kingfishers, ospreys, herons, seals and otters that frequent our oceanfront location.
Motel, as another review wrote is, in some respects, ‘a blast from the past’, has real character, wonderful location. Management is clearly Covid aware, tech savy, organized — self-check in with a combination lock on the doors of units, place felt very clean. For me it was a real treat to be beside the ocean, hear waves in my bed thru a partially open window. Advise paying the little bit extra for unit 4, the unit is the closest to the ocean and I think significantly larger than most of the other units.

We spent 5 nights here. The rooms are simple, not luxurious but comfortable, though we had full cooking facilities and coffee/tea. The sea views are fantastic with seating along a sea wall and the host very helpful, friendly and knowledgable about the local area

It was so clean and the view was excellent (#5). It had good lighting (personally hate dim rooms) and was at a lovely location with the ocean sea wall.
Only complaint is that the room was small and not a good place for luggage. But clearly I coped and would stay there again.
You can see the pride of ownership as the outside was well tended and the cups matched the outside paint (a delightful teal).
I went walking along the beach in mornings and could grab takeout (food truck across the street) and eat outside at the sea wall in evenings. Would stay here again.

I showed up with my elderly parents; one of which is 90 and blind. In speaking with the agent before booking, I told her my parents were not very mobile and that my father was blind. I was assured it would be the perfect room for them, given their disabilities. I was also assured the parking lot was close to their room for easy access, it was not and we had to park in the alley. The small bedroom had a hot water tank in it at the corner of the end of the bed. So the person on that side would not be able to get in and out of bed freely. The sofa bed was a thin mattress with bulging springs, not fit for anyone to sleep on! I spoke with customer service several times to resolve this matter and get a refund , I was told the owner would call me and they have not so I will be leaving my unsatisfactory review to warn others. I tried to leave a review on their facebook page but have been blocked which I suspect is what they do when someone doesn't give a glowing review. For $230.00 a night plus taxes, I expect a lot better! the views are incredible but that is pretty much available anywhere in Qualicum! We found a much better place, it was a two bedroom for the same price, brand new kitchenette and private patio! BEWARE

We booked last minute for a couples getaway and were pleasantly surprised with the lovely views, clean room, comfy bed and easy check-in. We will be back for sure! Don't forget your binoculars. They supply firewood and paper for the outdoor fire, so you don't have to bring much. There are a couple of restaurants and a café nearby. All and all a great place in a great location

Our room was very clean and the view was stunning! We stayed for 3 days in #6. A perfect little fridge with a freezer. Coffee maker, kettle and a few dishes were also provided. The sea lions put on a show during the day and the managers supply firewood for a bonfire in the evening. We saw eagles and herons. Great restaurants within walking and driving distance! The managers were very helpful and lent us their toaster one morning!!! Our dog was welcomed to the property. Love it there and will return for an entire week next summer!

We were looking for a quick overnight stop on our way to Tofino from upisland and chose this motel. It’s a blast from the past for sure. It doesn’t look like much from the outside. Quaint and small. But our room was renovated not so long ago. While it was tiny (no space for luggage) it suited us well. The bed was comfy. The bathroom small but efficient. They even provided coffee and tea which was nice for an early morning departure. We were there when the weather was cold and rainy but i can imagine on a warm day, it would be lovely to sit out on the sea wall. It was great value for us and if ever in the area would certainly consider staying there again.

The owner of this place was very unprofessional. We booked the cottage approximately three months in advance with the manager for our group of seven at $90 per night. Just a few nights before we were to arrive, the owner called us to change it to $135 per night. We told her that we were very upset by this change and the short notice, but she would not honour the original agreement. When we arrived in the evening, she informed us that the cottage was for only five people and since our group was seven she would have to charge us an additional $24 per night. Therefore the total amount we ended up paying was $159 per night!! Also, she insisted that we pay in full up front, or we could pack our bags and leave. After futile negotiations with the owner, she left us with no other options and we felt that were bullied into it by her threats that we would not find any other accommodations. The cottage was barely adequate. When we made the original booking we were told it was better than it actually was. Two out of the three bedrooms were very small (one was actually a closet just big enough for a single bed and it had no door). No doubt this is why there are no pictures of the rooms on their web site. Needless to say, I would highly recommend looking at other places to stay as there are plenty of other hotels and cottages in the area.

Small room. Huge high bed. Shower was wonderful. Bed was comfortable. Lots of light in room. Very clean. The only thing that bothered me was the doors are coded with no keys. You have to punch in a code which was told to me outside my room door a few times and then tried by the manager. I did not feel completely relaxed after that as I was travelling alone and could not help but wonder who else might have heard her telling me the code as well. Also, I am hoping these door codes are changed in between guests?

We were told by friends that it was quite rustic but I would rather call it quite run down. The sofa was caved in and quite uncomfortable to sit in. There was mould around the bathtub and the bathroom was barely big enough for one person to move about in. The kitchen supplies were minimal, we had one seven inch frying pan with no egg flipper. The batteries in the TV remote were dead, there was no radio or telephone. At $256 for a two night stay this was by far our most expensive accomadation on a 10 day trip throughout western Washington and the BC interior. But this was by far the worst place we stayed. Even our one night stay in a Motel 6 for $59 by far ran circles around this place. The grounds were not kept up and I can see why they do not include any pictures of the buildings or the inside of any of the suits (shacks). I would not return to this establishment for $50 a night including all taxes. It is quite evident that the owners have put very little money back into this property. I would highly recommend that anyone thinking of booking this do their homework first !!!!
