So this property is divided into two zones with marked differences in prices and room types. So all good reviews you see on TripAdvisor or Google or other platforms is for the premium part of the property. Not the "value" rooms that you will get fooled into booking like i did. Its a seperate building all together which has an open access from the main highway. No security guard sits here which means anyone can walk inside. The main door itself remains unlocked and you will be welcomed by a garbage heap (see picture). Further, you have a bank and an ATM on the floor above (pic attached) which means the cleaning staff comes in by 7:30am and creates a racket which gets transferred below to your rooms easily. What a way to wake up,no? There was a balcony in my room but it opened up to a "never cleaned" mini jungle with heaps of dust everywhere. Even the table in the room bore marks of the previous occupants (pic attached). On the good side, views from the open terrace of the premium block was nice, linen and washroom were clean. But the amount I paid was simply not worth it. More pics attached …
Stayed for a night at Winsum Hill, i had an amazing experience. Conveniently located at the highway just 2hrs away from the city’s hustle and bustle, highly recommend this place. The room was gorgeous and comfy. Loved the decor and ofcourse the view. My room was facing towards the valley and the garden, such a spectacular view i had. I enjoyed sunrise from my room and the first rays of sun came in straight through the window. The food was so good and healthy. I had the Indian staple, a mix of seasonal vegetables, dal and rice, scrumptious i tell you! I would like to especially thank Chef Gopal. I didn’t get time to visit the bar, it looked quite inviting, a vintage chic decor, definitely next time. The GM of the hotel, Mr. Anil Chadha was very friendly. He ensured I had a good stay. Everyone was super helpful too. Enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks a lot, will be back for more. 😁…

This small hotel has 13 rooms, four of which face the valley with nice view of green mountains. In these rooms one can sit in the balcony and enjoy the view. The balconies however face East and in early morning, the room gets flooded with light. From the road, one has to climb down one flight of stairs to reach the check-in counter and the restaurant. Rooms are further below one flight of stairs. There is no lift so please ensure if you can easily climb stairs as one has to go up and down many times for food and sightseeing. Rooms are nice and big and attached bathrooms clean and nice. Rooms have wall-mounted TV with most channels, and tea/coffee maker. Breakfast comprises egg preparations, bread cereals and poori-bhaji / Chhole-bhature etc. Lunch and dinner buffets comprise buffets of north Indian food. Food in general was good and tastey. There is a separate bar where liquors are served. There is nothing much to see in Solan but this small hotel offers a good place for relaxation. Manager of the Hotel and employees are courteous and helpful. …
Namaste. The first time to this region of India, Himachal Pradesh and arriving very early morning in February we could taste the clean air. A nice warm room awaited us and after a refreshing sleep on the comfortable bed, the amazement of looking out on the balcony to the undulating landscape was breathtaking. Being a photographer I lost no time in snapping the wildlife and landscapes. The restaurant served tasty hot food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we were well looked after by the staff. As the week went on the staff showed even more excellent service to our party and made us most welcome. All the better with Anil Chadhaa who guided us around his homeland on local walks and a train journey to Shimla through the mountains. The Hotel has all the amenities we required and we took full advantage of the bar with the locally brewed Golden Eagle. A tour of the nearby Mohan Meakin Brewery was a fascinating insight in to the days of old when the British would ensure their home comforts including beer were to hand! A tour of a couple of local temples were enlightening and more chances to snap a few more shots on the camera. Some shopping in Solan was another great experience. This would be a definite place to return to as there is more to offer. We would never get tired of the views and the clear air. Thank you to Anil Chadhaa and the staff of the Hotel Winsum Hill. Thank you.…
