An exceptional witness to the Reconquest, this 8th. castle, perfectly preserved, retains the aura of Arabic influence, with inimitable bedrooms which recreate the most romantic legends. It rises up on a promontory which presides over a fertile bend of the river Júcar. Military motifs...

The location of this parador is incredible! As is the service, restaurant and overall stay! It is all about history, and the view is spectacular. It is very isolated in a very small town, but worth the visit. Wish we had stayed another night! The...More

Pushed the boat out to stay in this ancient, rejuvenated castle which is the highlight of this fortified town. The views from it and the interior detail, made it worth every penny! We had a superb first floor corner room with ensuite bathroom. We could...More

The castle is very impressive, well appointed, modern facilities in a fantastic location. There's very little in the town. One very hospitable bar with great tapas and a couple of restaurants that open after 8.30pm. The art work and acoustics in the church are amazing.

Alarcon is quite remote. Easiest way would be to hire a car in Madrid. You could train to one of the bigger nearby towns (say Cuenca), but then you'd still need to take a taxi to Alarcon, which would be expensive I would... More
