I would have given this 5 stars except the view from our room was not as described- the room was supposed to have views of either the courtyard or the gardens depending on which side of the building. But we could just about see the garden in between the roof of the kitchens and the side wall of the clock tower. Also there was noise from the kitchen fans which was more noticeable at night, but I always take earplugs on holiday so it wasn’t a problem. In future we’d book a downstairs room as my husband struggled with the stairs especially as there was no handrail. The hotel and grounds and the spa were beautiful. Due to COVID restrictions we were not able to book any spa treatments and were only able to book an hour slot to use the pool area - which was lovely and quiet. The food at the brasserie was good, the breakfast (which is served in the main restaurant) was amazing. One night we had the tasting menu at the main Michelin star restaurant- this was a dream - beautiful food. We had breakfast both mornings at one of the tables outside and we could hear the horses neighing in the field nearby. We were able to look around the stables and say hello to all the horses, which we loved. Things to do: horse-riding, cycling(helmets and bikes provided), croquet. There’s a children’s play area, and I think there was a tennis court. And of course - walking around the beautiful grounds was my favourite. The only thing I think could be improved on, is the availability of food. You could have food at the brasserie or room service. Also the hotel provided picnics, afternoon teas, bbqs as well as meals in the restaurant- but none available until after 12 noon. Sometimes we just wanted an early lunch or light snack and not have to sit in our room or in a restaurant. You could get drinks (cold, hot or alcoholic) served at the many seating areas outside or the two large lounges inside but no way to get a cake with your cup of tea, or an icecream unless you used the restaurant or brasserie.

Our third stay at Lucknam Park and this was our longest yet - a whole 7 days! We ended up deciding to extend by 2 days because we simply couldn't bring ourselves to leave. LP is such a beautiful hotel/house. We love trampling around the grounds and the beautiful gardens, relaxing in the lounge and library, and of course using the spa. Rooms - we stayed in a Manor Room. Probably the sweet spot of room type at the hotel - nice size, lovely views, amazing gardens. It's classic decor but it works with the overall personality of the house. Restaurants - The main dining room (Restaurant Hwyel Jones) really is superb. Nothing beats a long à la care breakfast in there, and the dinner tasting menu, which changes weekly, is just staple Michelin star dining. Not often that we like EVERYTHING on the menu - both the vegetarian and seasonal menus. Service - Lucknam Park really excels when it comes to service. You just feel very much at home around the friendly, down to earth staff. They chat as much as you want them to or keep out of your hair if you prefer that too, and they try and fulfil all requests, however random. Looking forward to valet parking returning too, for next time. Spa - very much looking forward to not having to book hourly slots by the pool or in the gym (which we think is a quite cautious covid measure that we assume will be dropped after 19 July). Already trying to decide when we can come back!

All the staff were super helpful and kind, our accommodation was lovely too. The Michelin taster menu sublime, but the brasserie could have been better in terms of the quality of food. One thing I didn’t like was the use of cartons everywhere for water. I know they say plant based plastic in the caps - but still Tetra pack. Why not just offer jugs in the spa? Plastic glasses fine… Also, please ditch the mini plastic shampoo bottles in the bathroom. Find a better way like Cowley manor who have big ones that get refilled. But, overall, I would return and recommend. I think the staff, the location, the Michelin restaurant, the spa, all make it a really good place to relax and unwind and breathe

We managed to find a room available at short notice for a weekend stay. We were expecting reduced amenities and service, because of Covid restraints. But the opposite was the case, as the service in every department (front office, food, cleaning) was immediate, efficient and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, as we would have hoped; while every meal was simply superb. In fact my wife and I both thought that the dinner at the hotel's Restaurant Hywel Jones was the best we have ever had in a restaurant. And all this in beautiful surroundings.
