Broke our journey to Snowdonia here for 1 night. Interesting place. The food was really good - we ate both lunch and dinner here and couldn't do justice to the evening meal because lunch was amazing. Clean, comfortable room, with everything to hand. This place has history, so don't expect modern! En-suite was new though. Perfect for short stop over....

This lovely old hotel in a listed building in the heart of the ancient town of Montgomery is a joy in so many ways. The website is clear and honest about the types of rooms available with prices to match. The refurbishment is being done sympathetically and the sloping floors with accompanying gentle creaks are unavoidable in a building of...

Unfortunately we were only here for one night. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment. We had two rooms, one was beautiful, the other was perfectly adequate and I was in that room as I had the dog with us. Great value for money. Wonderful Welsh breakfast. Ample parking. Quiet.

The Dragon hotel is a lovely hotel offering rooms and meals in an old coaching inn. The rooms are are basic but quirky with creaky sloping floors (which can be a bit annoying late at night). The hotel is in a beautiful setting in the centre of the town. There are several small shops including a post office. The town...

This is a very old hotel in the centre of the town. It has a busy bar and restaurant and was bustling when we stayed there. The staff were fantastic; Cheerful, friendly and efficient. The old building is being extensively refurbished and what they have done so far has been done very well. Our room, (3) was a reasonable size,...

I love these olde worlde hotels. The history seeps out of the exposed beams, the nooks and crannies, the squeaky floorboards. Modern hotels just don't hit that spot. The Dragon is in Montogomery which itself oozes history, it's the sort of town you would find jigsaws depicting. The hotel is Budget to mid range, the location superb and my room...

Authentic coaching inn, which is creaky and has all the quirky features you would expect in an old hotel. We were in the attic, so had great rooftop views. The Windows look out on to the town, which is quiet at night, at least when the clock stops chiming at 12 midnight. Lovely walks around the town, particularly up to...

We had a room in the roof so there wasn't much headspace to stand up straight more so in the bathroom. It's quite old and creaky but we enjoyed our stay in this comfy cosy hotel. We only ate some snacks at the bar so can't comment on the food but it looked and smelt good. The town is very...

We were a largish group (18)of local people who had not pre-ordered our meals, in spite of this the food was served quickly, the meals were just delicious, the staff were very friendly and the service very good. We will return.
