Charming staff and a landlady who should really deserve a Nobel Prize for putting up with the random boring people who find their way to our beautiful part of the World..... There is not a better place in Norfolk :-)

Just looking for somewhere fairly local to go for a dirty burger and chips after work to start the weekend. Such a disappointment this place has changed so much, it used to be a delight but this time we walked in and were greeted with that feeling you get when the locals think they own the place and "foreigners" (that...

We called in here for a nice pint of Real Ale. Menu looked really good but we could not stay until evening meal. Front of pub is very Georgian and rather dark, but the back room is a full height 15th century medieval hall, complete with an amazing fireplace and huge chimney stack, what a surprise!! Apparently it was a coaching...

Visited this inn yesterday following a funeral in St James Church, Castle Acre. Plenty of seating which was good, like so many country pubs it's a little dark which is difficult for my partially sighted husband. Bar staff were friendly. Food was OK if a little ordinary. Would go again if in the area.

Stayed at the Ostrich Inn for a saturday night in June- meeting up with friends who'd booked a family room. Slightly wary in advance of the trip as some of the reviews were not that complimentary. We however got a completely different impression. Not sure if there are two parts to the accommodation, but we had a separate entrance at...

I recently visited the Ostirch Inn on a busy Saturday afternoon. The pub was clearly very busy however the staff were able to accomodate us. The service was excellent, all staff were very polite and attentive. The food was portioned just right and the quaility of the food was great, well worth the money. Would not hesitate to re-visit and...

Visited pub and beer garden on a sunny sunday afternoon. Great BBQ had lovely burger and brilliant value. Veggie burger looked particularly good also. Everyone in beer garden joined in to play an impromptu table tennis tournament. Great atmosphere. Is there are better way of spending a sunny afternoon in the english countryside?

We spotted castle acre from the car glinting in the sunshine on the road from Fakenham towards Swaffham. The castle is the most amazing find situated on the side of a hill in Norfolk! We walked around the well kept site absolutely beautiful and we will return to have a picnic it's the perfect spot. We headed into the village...

Athough we enjoyed our food and the pub has a lovely atmosphere, one of the reasons we decided to eat there was that the menu claims that the food is, where possible, sourced locally and free range. As we are very keen on animal welfare this was a major plus point. However, when we double checked that the bacon with...
