Detailed Reviews
Great value accommodation, the staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are a little bit dated but are clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Tea / coffee making facilities in the room. Unfortunately no food was available in the evening but plenty of food outlets nearby
Breakfast was great.
Breakfast was great.

Apparently Desboroughs last pub !!
This was a short notice stay while builders are in !
Rooms are small, basic and a bit tired but clean, cheap and all the staff were brilliant, very helpful. It’s a lovely old pub and seems to do ok at the weekends but should be a goldmine ! All looks a bit tired and needs freshening up ! Nothing major just repainting new carpets and new bedroom furniture
Breakfast was ok but the lunch menus didn’t inspire me to stay, there’s to many nicer places to eat not far away
Overall
Great value, great location, basic and ok with lovely staff but could be a goldmine ! Should be listed as a community asset and potentially bought by locals like the Lilacs in Isham !

Desborough only has one pub - The George. Friendly staff, good food, nice customers - a proper boozer. Also, juke box, pool table and darts. (Breakfast is available early am to punters). Would recommend a visit.

I made a 2 night booking directly with this hotel in February, they confirmed my booking. When I arrived I was told that there was no room available, they had taken a booking from booking.com that apparently took priority over mine. I have travelled from Spain and was not offered any help in finding alternative accommodation, just a half hearted apology. Poor/ non existent customer service. Not the correct way to treat customers, will not be bothering them again.

I have stayed in budget accommodation in Europe, USA & Canada and this is the worst place I have ever stayed. My son and I both had rooms above the smoking areas outside and there was the smell of cigarette smoke and cannabis coming through our windows. My partner booked through booking.com and there was no mention there of this pub having a licence until 2am. I went down to the bar at 1.30am and mentioned I would be speaking to the landlady in the morning. It was extremely noisy until turned 2am. The rooms were OK- basic but clean enough. The breakfast was OK. I was asked if I wanted tea/coffee but I asked for orange juice instead. I then spoke to the landlady and said we needed to discuss a deduction in the cost. This she would not even consider despite how unhappy we had been with our stay. She informed me I should have known they had a licence until 2am, that it was noisy until then which I should have known, said I was wrong about what I had smelt and accused me of deliberately not paying the day before. My son also spoke to her and got informed he was mistaken as to what he had smelt as well. It was obvious she was unconcerned with anything other than getting payment. I decided it was pointless continuing despite feeling extremely annoyed at having to pay £65 (2 x £30 rooms and 1 x £5 breakfast). She then announced I owed £67.29. My paperwork (printed from booking.com) was £65. She said the breakfast was £5.95 and the orange juice I had had was extra. I paid what my paperwork said. I am writing this with a view to hopefully prevent other people having to go through such an horrendous experience.

Arrived mid afternoon after a long drive from Scotland, looking around for a value for money b&b, someone must have been looking down on me that day as I found this little beaut!
Great location and large carpark available. Went in and felt I was being greated by family!
Such friend staff, before even booking I was asked if I would like something to eat and to relax with a beverage due to my travels. :-) amazing!
Landlady soo helpful, made a lone traveller welcome and at ease straight away with giggles and laughter!
Room was clean, everything I needed very accessible.
Great food! Mmm.
Such a great laugh that night, locals all friendly and loveable, even has a late licence until 2am! So was great. Sound didn't effect my sleep either!
I have now found my home from home!
Personally I would charge more for that I recieved can't believe how cheap it was,..
best stay I've had in Europe, USA and Canada!! Simples

Stayed on a Friday night. So, to be fair, it was a bit noisy. That said, it's busy with locals that goes to show something is right with this place or they would stay away.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and have everything you would expect for a budget price. Those expecting the Ritz at £35 a night will do better to book somewhere else. If it's value for money you are looking for rather than something for nothing - look no further.
The Breakfast served in the morning is, quite simply, fit for a King. 2 of everything with all the extras and as much tea or coffee as you can drink all for a small £6.95 extra. Quite frankly the Landlady is under charging for the mountain of food she serves!
In summary, a good, clean and comfortable place to stay that I would recommend to anyone (royalty included!).

This was a one-night stop in between seminars in different locations the weekend of 28th/29th November, 2015. £35 for one night, single bed.
The positives are that I was welcomed, service was efficient and the room was sufficiently spacious and comfortable. Chocolate chip cookies are always welcomed!
On the other hand, I was reminded of the scene in Tony Hawkes "Round Ireland with a 'Fridge'" in which Mr Hawkes asks the B&B proprietor if it's possible to watch the television from the bed, such in the angle at which it is mounted. She replies in the negative, citing simply that they need a television in every room to justify the third star!
There was a bedside light.... the other end of the room! Why couldn't the table be put next to the bed? Because then the door wouldn't open. The light above the bed had no on/off switch either so it was purely decorative.
If I'm being picky then the shower was quite dirty, especially the head and the on/off cord. Not badly so, but enough to notice. Noisy overnight with doors slamming. Of course the proprietors can't be responsible for other guests, but closure-retarding door arms would fix this and make a big difference to sleep.
But still, good price, nice bar area, convenient location, ample parking. You can do far worse and I'm happy that I got my money's worth.

The room was very good clean bed comfortable and well equipped, the shower was excellent not a box good size. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
This is a busy Pub and can be a bit noisy but no problem to me.
I thought it was excellent value for money and would definately stay again.

Stayed here for two nights in January. The land lady and her staff provide an excellent service all round. The rooms are well appointment, clean with all the mod cons. The food is traditional home baking which is to die for. The pub itself is modern with a new dining area. I’m not from the area, but the staff and locals make you very welcome.
Hope to stay again soon.
