I have lived in the Chester area all my life and I'd never even heard of this hotel/restaurant let alone Royden Park! We had a meal here recently with some friends, the whole place was very quiet, we were the only ones in the restaurant! However we had a superb meal, attentive and pleasant service along with an extremely good...

We have visited a few times previously, and we got engaged here too. My review is based on our visit here last weekend for afternoon tea. The building is lovely and the grounds always very well kept. The staff are delightful, friendly and attentive. There was a wedding on when we arrived but you could hardly tell as they were...

My husband and I recently attended the Riviera restaurant to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary. We have wanted to try this place for a while, but had no idea what to expect as we did not know anyone who had been before. Impressions on arrival were great - the building is stunning and a friendly member of staff greeted...

Beautiful and stunning looking hotel with friendly staff but there were a few issues which was surprising for a 5 star hotel. Evening meal in The Cellar and no venison carpaccio starter, steak was very chewy and no lemon sorbet with vodka. Also when we ordered another bottle of wine we were told that we'd had the last bottle so...

The staff service was impeccable, however - room at best ok, certainly not worth the high price, charged for 5* and was more like a 3* - no hairdryer, no robes, only one set of toiletries for two guests, we were told to call for tea and coffee but the phone was broken! Windows cracked and overall not particularly clean....

The cellar restaurant at the hillbark for me is unrivalled and unsurpassed on the Wirral. Where else do you get greeted outside on arrival by a lovely smiling young lady. Once you enter this hotel you know your in for something special and a real treat. The bar area is beautiful with its sumptuous decor and luxury furnishings to relax...

Spent a very pleasant 3 hours at Hillbark Hotel today. We were greeted with coffee and pastries on arrival. This was followed by a tour of the house, very interesting and lasted around an hour. It was a well planned tour with seats in the main hall to listen to the history. As the tour continued we viewed the bedrooms,...

Wow, as soon as you drive into the hotel grounds its breathtaking. The staff were excellent and very helpful, especially when there was a problem with our allocated room. We ended up in room 205 on the top floor which was very spacious with a Jacuzzi bath and separate shower. The bed was comfy and the 24 hour complimentary tea...

What a great afternoon we had. Classic tea for four. Lovely surroundings, great food and even a little tour of an empty bedroom. Too much to eat all at once so we were given a lovely bag of cakes to take home. Highly recommended.

Went here for a birthday meal. Location is fab, food excellent, Graham the pianist excellent and chatty, staff pleasant and helpful BUT we were shown to a lovely large room to make our choice from the menu.
