We are a family run B&B in the picturesque village of Morar with beautiful views overlooking the famous Silver Sands of Morar and spectacular views to the small isle of Rum. We have many attractive local walks nearby. On our doorstep we have the Morar Train Station where the Jacobite Steam Train passes on a daily basis from May to the end of October then for the Month of Dec. We have a Thai take away just a few doors down with the Morar Hotel only a few yards away, The fishing village of Mallaig is only two miles away with some lovely eateries and a superb bakery.

We stayed in Harlosh for 2 nights at the beginning of September. Maggie and Phil who own the guest house make you feel so welcome (made all the more welcoming with the homemade lemon drizzle cake left in our room after our long drive). Beautiful views over the silver sands and straight across from the train station (a must for the harry potter fans). As we hadn't booked an evening meal anywhere Phil suggested the hotel next door. We were greeted by Maggie who worked behind the bar and made sure we were fed and watered. The breakfast choices in Harlosh as fabulous also and there is no scrimping on portion size either. It rained very heavily on the Friday we were there and were most humbled to hear that Phil had attempted to track us down in his car to prevent us from the hideous soaking. However, we had found shelter in the train station - but lovely gesture and one that wont be forgotten. I would recommend Harlosh to anyone travelling up North if their journey happens to go through Morar. Beautiful place, beautiful people and finally, beautiful drizzle cake :-)

We come to the area often and this time booked in at Harlosh B & B. This place really is perfect. Ideal location near the Morar Hotel (for meals, drinks and local craic) and train station (for transport or trainspotting) and fabulous views from the windows over to the Isle of Rum. Rooms are tastefully decorated. Phil and Maggie are generous and welcoming hosts and there are lovely personal touches including homemade shortbread. Excellent breakfast also. Overall a wonderful place to stay and highly recommended.

I enjoyed my stay a lot and was made to feel most welcome by Maggie and Phil. Providing excellent customer service was second nature as a result of previously working as BA cabin crew. There were many nice touches. The room was bright and full of light, nicely furnished and best of all had a lovely view over to the Small Isles. The bed was extremely comfortable and with the peaceful location I slept well. Downstairs the dining room had Art Deco furniture and the breakfast was appetising. If you come by train its proximity to the station is a definite plus and you can easily do trips to Glenfinnan and Mallaig.

We had a gorgeous afternoon tea - proper old fashioned china, delicious cakes, delightful hosts. Were welcoming despite the bike helmets and rucksacks that came with us. Very helpful with information about the area. Strongly recommended - I imagine their B and B is great as well.

Phil and Maggie made us most welcome. It is quite a problem to find accomodation which will accept dogs. Some may take one small dog but two can be a problem. I was chuffed when Maggie said they had a room available. I was worried that the dogs might be a bit of a handfull for them as this is the first time we have stayed in a bed and breakfast with the dogs.
Bobby, Phil and Maggies dog was great and he was willing to share his toys with the boys. We had a fantastic time and as everyone has said, the room is delightful and the views are over the silver sands at one side and the Harry Potter train at the other. The room is spotless and the breakfast was superb. I have been telling everyone about Harlosh since we returned. We spent all day walking on the silver sands and I can tell you that the bed is mega comfortable as I fell fast asleep at 9pm! We will be back again and have sent Bobby some choccy drops in the post. I hope Phil and Maggie will have us back as we really loved their hospitality.

We stayed at Harlosh for 3 nights and would have loved to stay longer. The B&B has recently been taken over by Bill and Eileen and they are fantastic hosts - warm, friendly and very helpful.

Our room was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. We liked having a view of the beach from one window and the Jacobite train from the other. The bed was comfy and the shower room looked very new.

We appreciated having home-made tablet provided in a jar, but sadly ate an entire jar-ful each day as it was that good!!!

The breakfast is delicious and large; it would be worth stating if you wish less than 2 of each item or you will receive a massive plate-full.

Bill operates his own business called Minch Adventures, which provides a variety of fishing, boat and hiking trips etc. We'd love to book this on our next visit.

Be prepared for an early rise at this B&B, as breakfast is served before the owners head to their day jobs, but it's worth getting up early, in order to take advantage of all the activities locally. We liked walking from the house to the beach, and it's only a 10 minute climb in the other direction to the cross where you can see a view of the whole area.

We highly recommend a visit to Harlosh and the Morar area.

We had not booked accommodation and so took a chance and knocked on the door of the Harlosh Guest House. We are so glad we did. This is a gem of a place. The hosts have recently taken over the establishment and reading the reviews of when the previous occupants ran the B & B, the new owners have not let any of the standards slip.
The room was lovely. Very clean. Beautiful views. Eileen and Bill are the perfect hosts. Eileen set up a table so we could eat our fantastic takeaway Thai Meal (ordered from the lady just down the road) and even put our own beers in the fridge to cool!! The breakfast was lovely with locally sourced fresh quality ingredients. I have no hesitation in recommending this B & B, Eileen did not go the extra mile she did the 10K! Will certainly return if we are ever in the area again.

Only there for 2 nights but will be remembered for a long time.
I can go on about all the reasons to go to Morar and stay at Harlosh Guest House but they will be obvious once there. Where can you step off a train and be welcomed before the train has left the station.
I want to say a big thank you to Maggie our host. The most kind, friendly, understanding person that made our trip even more memorable.

Had a lovely stay in Room 3 of Harlosh House. Having stayed in several B&Bs for the past 2 weeks of our tour of Scotland I can confirm this was by far the most comfortable bed! I slept undisturbed for 10 hours! The view out of the window was fantastic and Maggies breakfast was also my favourite of our trip. The little easter eggs left for us were an added treat! Thanks Maggie and Phil for your welcoming hospitality.
