We stayed here with family for 2 nights in October. A beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean with everything we could possibly need. The breakfasts were incredible with lots of choices.I wish we could have stayed longer. The owner could not have done more for us. It was a birthday to remember. Thank you.

Warm welcome with tea and baking from Catherine and Michael. Very kind and accommodating hosts! Had many recommendations for places to visit and to eat. The view is beautiful and breakfast was amazing. Felt like we were staying with friends. Loved our stay!

Excellent B&B - modern, comfortable, warm and breakfast can be extensive if you let Catherine cook for you: scrambled eggs and salmon, kippers, etc, but also good range of cereals and fruit. The location has a superb view over Loch Morar and even when it is raining it has its own beauty. There are seats at the front of the house should you be lucky to get fine weather. Catherine and Michael can provide very accurate weather information - not all of good unfortunately. They are a good source of where to eat locally and there are quite a few options. Our stays are always enjoyable and relaxing, and this is largely due to our hosts, Catherine and Michael, and we would definitely recommend a stay at Kismul House.

This is our second visit to kismul and just a tad disappointed. Although the house is in the most beautiful setting overlooking the loch the area around it was a bit junk yard! As you approach up a single drive road there is a lot of abandoned cars and caravans. At the entrance to the b&b is a half taking down shed with discarded paint pots and cardboard a bit unsightly. When we went for a walk a large steel shed with wood and a old shopping trolley left on the outside and the weather was beautiful but made it a bit stinky was a bit like rotten fish. There seemed to be a new campsite in the field neghibouring the house and lot of hilarity and swearing coming from kids late into the night along with that and a lot of dogs howling didn't make for the best nights sleep. Also found it very strange that the owner has CCTV in such a rural setting! Perhaps there is maybe new neighbours to the area but wouldn't make me rush back.
The house itself was very clean and again breakfast was delicious and the owner very helpful as before which makes it a shame about the surroundings.

Amazing stay at kismul, perfect setting, beautiful house, tasty home baking and breakie and a lovely couple.
As for the review below I would ignore... There was no noise no smell no campsite and certainly no mess around the house I'm not sure if they stayed at the same house, the owner did explain about the shed that it had been taken apart by the local farmer but just to ignore it! I wouldn't let the review below put you off, you can't please everyone as they say but its one of the best bed and breakfasts around and we will definitely visit again. thank you Catherine for a wonderful stay : )

We spent the day on the Isle of Skye, but we wish we had taken the earlier ferry back to Maillig so we would have had more time at Kismul! It is first rate in all ways. The room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. The best mattress we had in two weeks. Large towels, great shower head. Good fast wifi. The bramble whiskey that Catherine concocts hit the spot when we arrived.

The breakfast was truly original and delicious. We read about the pancake tower on TA, so we knew to say yes when she offered it.

The views over Loch Morar are spectacular.

Note to get directions to Kismul. Our GPS left us a wee short. Coming from the ferry, take A830 to B8008 (don't take first turn back into Maillig but go until you see the sign to Morar). You go across the tracks in Morar and turn left. You will drive along the lake on the narrow road for a few miles which is a beautiful drive. When you see the craft shop, you have about a half mile more. There is a big sign in front advertising Kismul-- right side of the road.

Highly highly recommend this B & B. Catherine is a wonderful hostess, a delight to talk with and the the B & B is first class.

We just loved the drive to and from Kismul House. Whatever the weather or the time of day, we couldn't resist stopping to take photos of the wonderful sights along the way. And then when we arrived 'home', we loved that our hosts were so friendly, caring and intent on ensuring that we had an enjoyable time. We were lucky enough to stay four nights - we just didn't want to leave as we knew we couldn't find anything better. We have just arrived home from our trip and it is seven weeks since we stayed, but we find ourselves raving about it to our friends!! Thank you Trip Advisor for putting us on to this gem and thank you Catherine and Michael being gems!!!

If looking for somewhere off-the-beaten track, this is the place to stay. It overlooks Loch Morar and is ideal for catching the ferry to Skye from Mallaig. The house is modern and spotless. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Stayed two nights in this beautiful B&B. A little way outside of Morar follow the signs for Bracara. My sat nav let me down just before I arrived and tried to lead me up someone else's garden path. Once you've passed the craft shop on your right keep going until you pass a house on the left hand side of the road and Kismul House is the next house on your right.

Catherine warmly welcomes you with tea and home baking. My room - such a treat to get a double room rather than the usual tiny singles - had the most spectacular view of Morar Loch which even on a dull, rainy day lifted the heart. Beautifully decorated this room had its own private bathroom across the landing. Spotlessly clean and with a choice of toiletries it was wonderful to sink into a hot bubble bath after a long, muddy walk. I usually prefer a walk in shower but I soon got used to the shower attachment and felt myself in the lap of luxury.

The bedroom had a comfortable chair overlooking the view. The TV with freeview was a little grainy but you don't go on holiday to watch telly. DVDs were available for use if that was your fancy. I had problems logging into the wifi, the code on the card didn't seem to work but I kept forgetting to ask about it. That's what having a good book does to you. The hospitality tray included all the usual choices of tea, coffee etc. I used the bottle of water provided to make the tea as wasn't sure about using the tap in the toilet.

After a good night's sleep in the comfortable bed I got up to the most amazing breakfast. A choice of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, dried fruit, fruit juice and that was just the first course. Then Catherine arrived with the famous pancake stack - two pancakes with bacon, cherry tomatoes, black pudding/fruit pudding, mushrooms and topped with a poached egg. I normally avoid poached eggs like the plague because I can always taste the vinegar but this one just tasted of egg. Tea, toast, scone and homemade jam completed a substantial breakfast which left me pleasantly full but not stuffed to the gills.

Catherine and Michael whom I met on the second morning were great hosts. Friendly and chatty but happy to leave you to enjoy the food too.

I noticed that a night cap was laid out for those who would like one. I don't drink but it's a nice gesture.

All in all a wonderful stay and I look forward to returning in the future.

My husband and I were passing through en route to the Hebrides so, sadly, were only able to stay one night. Everything was perfect - the location, the room (we had the most stunning view of the Loch) and the hosts, Catherine and Michael, who gave us a very warm welcome to their home. Not sure when, or even if, we will return but it's very tempting to make the 500+ mile journey just to repeat the experience.
