Very hospital with lovely rooms and a second to none breakfast. The beautiful Morecambe bay is nearby as is the village of Cartmel which is a delight. This includes the wonderful L'Enclume 2 star Michelin restaurant.

We were staying at the nearby Meathop caravan site and chose here for Saturday night. We ate early because of the kids. Kids portions were excellent. I went for the black pudding starter from the specials menu and the steak and ale pie. Both were gorgeous. The pie was homemade and the beef melted. My wife's sea bass was also...

Had lunch - friendly staff - simple dining room without frills although there was a display of pottery figurines. The food choice was good and interesting but what was delivered was a little bit of a let down for the price. Chips were soft and fluffy inside but not as crisp as they should have been; lamb hotpot was tasty...

Very reasonable pet friendly pub. We stayed here for one night on our way to Scotland. Great food, friendly staff, very clean. Car park right outside. Pub itself was easy to locate. Bathroom was very clean with a nice big shower. Room was very quaint and nicely decorated. Only downside was that we didn't have a great mattresss, but as...

We'd been to various local nature reserves and called in for a quick light lunch. The bar inside was packed with people having proper Sunday lunches but we received excellent service - quick and absolutely superb, well priced and nicely presented. We sat outside to eat, because we had the dog with us (although we could have gone in) and...

Only didn't give t a 5 because it is very noisy at night due to the bedrooms being right above the bar and there also being no double glazing. We ate in the bar and the food was good: fish pie and a burger.

As a couple we wanted to get away, found the derby arms and booked. The pub is fantastic such a welcoming place the staff and locals are so friendly and made us feel at home. The food is amazing and so are the local ales. Rooms are clean and a great shower, we will be booking to go back soon.

We stayed here the weekend of the Cartmel trail races. Great food - I can recommend the Steak Pie, the Lancashire hotpot and the Sea Bass - all superb. Fantastic fresh cooked English breakfast - all local meats and eggs. Eclectic mix of furniture which adds to the charm. Great range of good real Ales and beers. Nice hot showers...
