Quite possibly the best rural hotel experience ever, in Spain or anywhere else. Beautiful surroundings, comfortable rooms in a historic building and far from the crowd. Jose Miguel is an excellent host. Everything about Irigoienea is super (with the exception that you have to pay for the breakfast, still one of the best and highly recommended).

Jose Miguel was a very gracious host and the hotel is spacious and charming. We hadn't learned much about the area before we came, and he spent about 20 minutes describing the local attractions and culture. We had a very pleasant dinner of small plates one night on the balcony. The village of Urdax is a short walk from the...

Histoic building beautifully restored with lovely views across a quiet valley. Our room had every comfort and was full of character. We couldn't find anywhere in the village to eat in the evening so we ate from the 'casse croute' menu of the hotel, which was small dishes with lots of local flavour and served with great courtesyon the terrace....

One of the most beautiful, tranquil places we have stayed... You don't find many places so lovingly restored where even the nails in the old beams are handmade from wood, where the gentle owners are so warm and welcoming and so happy to share their local knowledge with you, where you wake up to the smell of fresh baking and...

How they have renovated this house is really splendid and you really feel bad your Spanish is so poor you can't...

Stayed one night in this beautiful hotel. We were charmed by this hotel and found its owners Jose Miguel and Mila very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and although there was no air conditioning, there was a huge fan. Great shower with loads of hot water and they even provided ear plugs which can't have been for local...

Wouldn't want to hail this place too much - the tourist masses would most certainly ruin the Urdax atmosphere. The place in unique. The hotel, Urdax village and the Xareta region are something truly special. In Urdax you really feel like you've travelled back in time. The building of Hostal Rural Irigoienea is very old, it is built in 1786,...

Although I have never been able to accurately pronounce the name of this hotel, I can easily articulate how lovely it is to stay there. Here, you are treated like the favorite family guests; it's like coming home and being taken care of in every way. The views are spectacular, the rooms are charming, beautifully appointed (and immaculate), the pace...

We all just love the charm of the hotel and the host was absolutely amazing -mand goes out of his way to accommodate you. It does really feel like being at friend's house. Unfortunately the language barrier can be a problem. And unfortunately, no dogs and children allowed.

“I hosted a big party here, and invited a bunch of my friends to come, so I got to peek into every single room to make the room assignments. It was hard to choose which one I wanted to keep for myself. Each room has its own charm and character.”
