Within 5 mins walking of the main square it is an ideal location. The hotel is the typical motel arrangement of two floors surrounding a pool and nice grounds. The room with two double beds was clean and functional. The shower was very powerful and water hot. Wifi, ok but not fast. Staff helpful. Would stay again.

I stayed here two nights and it was about 800 pesos. A room like this would be so much more expensive in the United States. The room was very clean and comfortable. The area is secure and right down the street from the little centro.

Rooms are clean and tidy, Wifi works pretty much everywhere, common area well looked after and staff very polite and helpful. Didnt try out the restaurant but looks pretty good too... games for kids, big swimming pool at decent temperature. Would definitely come back.

Clean, Good Location, honest price and a fantastic large heated Pool ! I will come back. The room are very quiet, it is a safe place and the rooms are simple but modern. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and very nice. It is a peace harbour, good base to explore the region. I did not go to the restaurant, seems to be 4 or 5 stars and expensive.

Reserved 3 nights online with credit card with a great deal here during a wine festival in the area. The hotel realised they could get a better price and hike the room fee for the weekend. They emptied my room while I was out for the day placing my things in plastic bags in reception and gave my room to some higher bidder. Albeit they offered a substandard room with no AC as an option, I was so aghast at their low hitting approach I refused to stay a moment longer and found a friendlier hotel in town.
You do not treat customers like that and you most certainly don't touch personal items without permission. A real shame.

A pretend to be hotel of 4 stars while deserves no more than 2.
The room was dirty, stains all over the carpet, floor,wc, tables, the shower was in such state that we decided to shower with slipers on.
The walls are so thin that you could hear everything, we were not able to sleep for the 2 nights we have stayed due to the noise next door (tv, speaking, other activities of the couple,), the holiday loud music of the hotel in the swimming pool starting early in the morning, people passing by in high heels, and the noise of the parking next no our room.
Also, It has a parking garage but it is a whole issue to park it.
Some of the staff was friendly but some other just tried to sell us tours, spa treatments while we were trying to make a request, lacks training in hospitality, while we were requesting certain things at the desk the lady would just answer staring at her screen, and answer without even looking at us.

The hotel was not worth the price per night it charges, at the utmost this is an hotel of 2 stars and should charge no more than 40-50euros per nigh. The appearance of the ourside is OK but when you enter to the room is something else.
We will definately go often to Queretaro and Tequisquiapan but will avoid staying here again.

Art Deco hotel in Tequisquiapan that sits at the edge of “el centro” tourist district. We were allegedly booked in a different hotel in Tequisquiapan for a wedding that ended up cancelling due to a health issue in the core wedding party (couple is still together for the romantics out there.) In the fallout from the wedding cancellation, we grew concerned we might not actually have a room at the other hotel. Sparing you the details of our communication issues with the other hotel, we booked a single night at Hotel Rio for our arrival night as insurance of sorts to make sure we had lodging. We ended up liking it so much that we stayed there for the remainder of the week and are THRILLED we did.

The Hotel Rio is stylish, clean, and the staff was super helpful. Rooms have modern amenities like in-room safe, coffee makers (the coffee was shockingly good), robes, etc. The mattress was top notch. The room climate controls worked flawlessly. The courtyard is beautifully landscaped … kids loved the pool … the restaurant has delicious food … and we felt SAFE the entire time. Their clientele is primarily professionals from Queretaro and Mexico City spending the weekend in wine country. The staff gladly exchanged currency for us, called taxis for various excursions (and they were always waiting as soon as we entered the lobby), and were very transparent about their rates (which coincidentally matched US web-based booking sites to the dollar/peso).

This hotel is very underrated in my estimation, and we are so happy we ended up here.

The hotel itself is beautiful, quiet and the rooms are comfortable, the grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. Large pool. The staff is very well-trained and helpful. It's within walking distance of the historic part of Tequisquiapan. Although it's not the least expensive hotel in the area, it's well worth the price. No ATM on site but there is one nearby on the same street. No laundry service but, again, there is one close by. Food in the restaurant is very good. Overall, the Rio is by far the best hotel in the area.

Hotel rio helped make our first trip to mexico esay, welcoming and comfortable. We are a family of four and we were comfortable in the junior suite. Each day we were able to start our morning with a savory and/or sweet breakfast that lacked for nothing. The weekend buffet offered us hot Mexican dishes with local garnish and plenty of spice if you want it. Also, fresh juice, fruit, cereals, breads and sweet breads. As you can see the morning meal is very important and hotel rio made me very happy in that regard. The service was individual and tended to detail but not over the top so that I did not feel I could make myself at home. The open layout, with doors opening to the outdoors helped add to the homey feel. You could open your door into the garden and sunshine, of which there were plenty when we went. We did not swim because we were out all day everyday exploring but next time we are here we will make time. Our room was always clean and with plenty of hot water and amenities for the four of us.

This hotel is so close from downtown, just 3 blocks, the people at front door was so nice at the check in, al is quiet, clean, the room was also clean, nice lighted with good ventilation. We did not try the pool but it looked so nice and there were a bunch of people around it. The hotel is easily reached it but you can not hear the car noise. Tequisquiapan is a very pretty and small town and this hotel can provide a confortable place to rest, close from main block and they have a parking lot, which most of the hotels are not.
