When I first checked, I saw all these bad reviews, but we certainly didn't have a bad experience at all... Turns out the owner is not the same as a year ago. If you plan to do the Yala safari and stay in Tissa for 1 or 2 nights, this place is perfect. The hotel looks like it has been... More

Not sure, if they've read this bad reviews here, but our experience isn't bad in any way We've got to this place by an accident, but we've got clean room with fan, air condition and wifi for 2200 rupies (including tax). The hotel is clean and has a swimming pool. The staff was very helpful and friendly (they did a... More

This guest house was nice - nothing to deserve one star reviews! The guy who served us was nice, the breakfast was good, the rooms were clean and cheap. There was no hot water, but we knew that was coming, and it's not like you need it in a climate like that! There was free wifi, and we even had... More

We stayed three nights in Vikum Lodge in mid-July, having seen it in both the Lonely Planet and the Rough Guide to Sri Lanka. We stayed in a double room with AC for 2500Rs per night, having been offered a room with just fan for 2000Rs. Our room was fine, a bit dingy and in need of some touching up... More

If only we had checked Trip Advisor before contacting this place via phone on reliance on LP review, we obviously wouldn't have stayed. Our experience was as per the last few reviews - dirty bathroom, wifi turned off without notice, service charge added to everything (which we didn't end up paying), hassles from owner and tuk tuk driver (who lingered... How can the lonely planet be lyric about this old bad maintained place. The owner who does everything with a smile did not convince us of a warm welcome. When you leave your room he switches of the power. Food is over expensive and he charged us 10 percent servicecharge even over the room. Don 't go to this depressing... More

Don't know how Lonely Planet gets the idea to recommend this place...!? I can only warn you to go there: About the rooms: that's how I imagine a prison cell. Very cold atmosphere, walls and ceiling very dirty, partially even moldy. The mattress sags, cables were hanging lose in the bathroom, all the things did not really look very clean.... More

This place has a bad atmosphere. Within 10 minutes of arriving we had two guys sit next to us while having tea trying to get us to book a safari. Constantly telling us about how others are more expensive and it was all a pack of lies. We didn't eat here so no idea how the food is. Location is... More

Yala in general is full of pushy men trying to sell you a safari and you cannot walk anywhere without being hassled-quite intimidating for a lone female traveller. I agree with previous reviews in that the owner is rather pushy and the rooms are less than basic with thin mattresses and cold shower. Fortunately I only paid 1900rupees for my... More

I have to agree with most people on here, I was surprised to see that LP endorse this place. Our room was nothing close to 'lovingly cared for', nor did I find the 'luxuriant botanical bonanza surrounding them'! The rooms are shabby and worn out, and dirty in places. Ours wasn't as bad as some have described on here, and... More
