We stayed in the Stage Head: big room, with a huge window that looks out over the bay. A very nice place to stay at! Very good location and comfy stay. They provide a wash basis + soap for dishes, cutlery

We were late due to the delay in the ferry schedule and we phoned to inform them. They left a nice note on our door and they met us the next day with genuine Labrador hospitality. We stayed in the Loft and enjoyed the views and large space. The king size bed was comfortable as was the room. This room had a fridge, small countertop stove, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, utensils, glasses, etc. We ate at the Whalers Restaurant a few times and the food and service were excellent. WIFI works within a section in the restaurant. The room had satellite TV. Excellent accommodations operated by a genuine, kind, Labrador family. Thank-you

We stayed in The Loft. Overlooking the bay and Saddle Island. Right next door to the National Park Interpretive centre. The king size bed was very comfortable. Two side chairs and a table to enjoy drinks while enjoying the view. The kitchen was very small but did have fridge, microwave, hotplate, dishes and wine/beer glasses. We weren’t planning to cook elaborate meals!. The restaurant was basic bhut good. Like most places in Labrador, they are very short staffed.

What a classic Labrador setting. We stayed in Stagehead which is right on the water and features a little deck with picnic table and Adirondack chairs. Superb view. It’s built over the beach so a little wonky and cold. Everything creeks and it’s rustic.

We had reservations for 2 separate rooms overlooking Red Bay. We instead accepted the owners offer to take a cabin for 4 - this was a mistake. The cabin was fine, comfortable and clean, (hot water for 4 showers was a problem, though) but had no ambiance. You need to understand that Red Bay is a very small, rustic seaside village. Visiting Red Bay was fascinating and well worth the ferry trip and drive from Newfoundland. The road to Red Bay is paved from Blanc Sablon, but is gravel north of the village. What added immensely to the visit was the Whaling Stations Restaurant - it was great. Had the best fish and chips (cod) that I've ever had. Lots of delicious Labrador dishes and desserts.. Owner and staff were as friendly and helpful as you could ever hope for - you were treated like one of the family.

We stayed in Strand Cabin, part of the Whaling Station Cabins. How utterly wonderful it was to find this gem in Red Bay after a long day of travelling. It was quiet and picture perfect as all windows face the water. With no available wifi, one finds tranquility and peace being 'unconnected' for a change. The cabin was clean and the beds oh so comfortable. The Whaling Restaurant next door provided a excellent dinner and breakfast. They are well known for their seafood chowder, which is the best we've ever tasted. Somewhere we would definitely stay again and are happy to recommend.

Stayed in Cabin # 4. Not at all impressed during my stay. When we checked in some of the dishes were dirty yet there was a sign saying dishes had to washed before checkout; so we know the cleaning lady don't inspect them after guests checkout. We could not use the pots & pan to cook any meals as the coating was peeling of them and the frying pan had so much build up on it you couldn't even fry an egg. Toaster didn't work it would partially toast the bread on one side the other side didn't toast all. Bathroom fan didn't work and the bathroom needs a complete overall. The windows were not clean at all. Had a phone in the cabin but no phone book, no contact numbers posted anywhere in cabin in case of emergency. No fans in the cabin to cool it down couldn't open the windows as the flies were numerous and window screens didn't work as flies would find a way in the cabin. We were not told there was a boil order on when we checked in. The next day while we ate at the restaurant a bus tour arrived and we heard the lady tell them there was a boil order on. The server who took our order that day never mentioned anything about a boil order on either. Spoke to the lady upon checkout when I told her about the issues she didn't seem to concerned. As to the boil order issue she informed me a boil order has been on for many years; yet it was fitting to let bus tour groups know about it but not other people renting her cabins or eating at her restaurant. This tells me a lot about the management of these cabin and the restaurant; also "don't expect to be compensated for the poor stay" Canada Select you gave them 2** what cabins or when did you inspect them?????? Would never stay here again.

A wonderful place to stay when travelling in this area of Labrador.

We stayed in the Loft room, which had recently been renovated. It is a very large room with hardwood floors, a large king-size bed, a small kitchenette, a fireplace and an entire wall of windows overlooking Saddle Island. The bathroom was also very big and was fully equipped.

The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and the chairs were great for reading in while looking out the window. There were plenty of extra towels and pillows.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They successfully managed to maintain control of the small restaurant and gift shop when a large cruise ship docked and the village was flooded with approximately 1200 people.

Last June we stayed in one of the Whaling Station Cabins in Red Bay , the Strand House. This cabin is just as you want it to be : cozy , well equiped , beautiful view on the harbour , and quiet , very quiet. The Cabin has nice windows facing the harbour , and the bed , located on the mezzanine floor , gives you beautifull wake-up views...Car is parked just outside the cabin.
From the oustide the cabin doesn't look very welcome , but it sure is a great place to stay.
There's a small restaurant in Red Bay , it's also the place to register and get the key for your cabin.

I had problems getting a response to my emails requesting a reservation and by the time we connected all options with a queen bed were gone. So, I accepted Strand House, with 2 double beds. The mattresses were softer than usual, but what a great location! Fabulous views of the bay (from the upstairs bedroom and downstairs living area) and just a short walk to the restaurant and national park buildings (important in black fly season). Although the building is an old warehouse moved to that site to prevent its destruction, renovation inside with contemporary materials made it very comfortable and clean. Oddly, there is no kitchen sink but you're charged extra if you don't wash the few items they leave for you, so you need to use a bowl on the kitchen table to get the work done. It seemed strange for the price we were charged, but we simply looked out the window at the hard-to-forget view and dried our dishes with a smile.
