The Lakeview Hecla Resort has received mixed feedback, with many guests deeming it overpriced for the offered quality and service. While some deals provide better value, service experiences vary, combining moments of warmth with frustration over rudeness and maintenance neglect.
The resort's ambience is marred by outdated and worn aesthetics, and cleanliness is a recurrent concern, particularly regarding room upkeep and pool condition. However, its location is generally appreciated for its natural surroundings and outdoor activities, despite occasional disruptions.

Detailed Reviews
I stayed here once before, about 12 years ago when it was still a Radisson. Nothing has changed, the decor is still the same except that it's no longer gleaming but it's all kind of tired and worn now. Maintenance and upkeep is not a strong suit with Lakeview Hotels in my experience, and this property is no different.
That said, the hotel is still pretty comfortable with pleasant, spacious rooms. The rooms are no longer carpeted which is probably cleaner but somehow also feels colder and more institutional.
Service is good, the staff are friendly and earnestly try their best to please despite some challenging circumstances including the various covid restrictions in place.
The hotel has a nice spa and a great pool area. Unfortunately covid restrictions limit the number of people who can use the facilities. I was there during spring break and the increased crowds meant that you could only get one hour at the pool per day which was a bit disappointing for families but better than the alternative of having no pool time.
The restaurant on site is pretty good, it isn't fancy but the food is good and prices are reasonable considering the remote location and lack of practical alternatives nearby.
There are some fun things to do nearby but there aren't a lot of options in shoulder seasons so come prepared with things to do. In that vein, the wifi is serviceable and there is a good basic array of TV channels along with a selection of DVD movies you can borrow which is a nice touch.
All this being said, I generally enjoyed my stay and I'd be willing to return.

Our family of 4 plus our dog visited this resort with friends Dec 31 and Jan 1. My husband is wheelchair bound so we were pleased with the accessibility of the resort and it’s appeal to the kids, teens, and adults in our group. We were impressed by the wood sculptures in the lobby and the modern rooms. I also was glad to see separate accessible bathrooms within the resort. We had a regular room the first night and a very spacious accessible room for the second night. There was a roll in shower and double sink along with two separate rooms each with a TV in the accessible suite. The lounge/lobby was big with lots of tables and various seatings. We enjoyed having drinks and playing games. The adults and kids enjoyed the pool. My only comment is the chorine smell in the kids pool was overpowering for me, but the kids seemed fine. I liked the outdoor plunge pool and tried the sauna. We had the tibaggan hill to ourselves and made a fire. I wish we had brought our skates or skis as there were many families outdoors enjoying the mild temperatures. We hope to go back to visit this summer. It was worth the 3 hour trip😊

Decent restaurant on site, also checkout Gull Harbour restaurant off resort. Housekeeping failed to come clean our room. Waterpark and adult spa is nice, pools are heated and hot tub real hot! Should consider upgrading in room TV entertainment, could make $$ selling PPV movies, especially with such slow wifi Internet which could also be modernized.

I always look at trip advisor prior to booking, and this hotel had both excellent and poor reviews. Our experience unfortunately was more the latter.
Initial impression walking into our king room: there was wallpaper peeling off, and hanging down off of the wall. No one had bothered to change any of the clocks for daylight savings time so they all displayed the wrong time. The room temperature is controlled by a window air conditioning/heating unit, so one end of the room is warm while the other remains cool.
The bathroom was run down, and the toilet didn't work properly. Had to call maintenance. The mattress was hard and all the pillows lumpy. There wasn't a proper fitted sheet on the bed, so it came off right away. Walls of the room had no soundproofing so we could hear entire conversations of the neighboring room. Kept me up through the night; not their fault ad they weren't being rowdy regular talking voices would come through the wall.
No one ever came to clean our room though we were out skiing all day. I let the front desk staff know who agreed that the room should indeed have been cleaned, but didn't really offer much of an apology or anything to try to remedy the situation.
It was nice to have an adults only pool area, but it is also showing its age and doesn't appear to be cleaned often or maintained. There's a large amount of rust apparent on all of the venting. We appreciated that the pool was open until 11pm and utilized it after supper until closing time.
The restaurant food was okay, but the table and chairs also showing a lot of wear - my chair was caved in on the seat area and needed to be refurbished or retired. Drinks were expensive.
The one thing I will say was that in general all staff working in the hotel and restaurant were pleasant to talk to, and easy to deal with. They are doing the best with what they have.
Snowmobilers get a greatly reduced rate, but we were there paying the full price of $145/night. So much potential here but at this point it's so rundown that I wouldn't recommend it. Definitely don't go in thinking it's a high end resort.

This had to be the most disappointing hotel / resort stay ever. The staff were completely unhelpful, no direction given, no maps, if you asked a question it seemed like you were an inconvenience, just all around unhelpful and unfriendly. The rooms, GROSS. There wasn’t an inch of carpet in our room that wasn’t gross and stained. Headboard stained , pillow shams
Had food on them, bedding was dirty.
Complained to the manager , she offered a new room that would take hours to Clean but couldn’t promise that it would be any better than what we already have. Or I could get a discount. I we took the discount. (45.00 total ) for a 2 night stay that was 200.00 plus tax each night.
The food at the restaurant was way over salted and not worth the price 100.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids and all we drank was water. ( the kids hot dog meal was the best part)
To top it off, when it came time
For bed , I realized our “queen” beds were actually double beds.
The place is dated, the staff is For the most part uninviting, the foods is subpar and over priced , and the rooms are gross.
Needless to say, this is not at all a high end resort as advertised.

Decent hotel for the price especially if you take advantage of the ice fishing/snowmobile rate for $89 plus tax. The rooms are comfortable and nice. The common areas minus the lobby could use proper upkeep and things fixed. Walls peeling, rugs replaced. Restaurant is kind of dark and low ceiling, definitely could be redone. The pool area and spa pool area are nice but definitely could have been done better and needs things fixed. Odd things like traps and tape and things that have been half ass fixed all over but aesthetically looks bad and should be fixed properly. The sauna is nice but there’s no drain so the gross cold water sits on the floor day after day and bench’s have water sitting on them that’s old and slimy. Pool areas definitely should be cleaned more regularly and better as it wasn’t even busy when we were there. Having only one server at breakfast and then having the same person to run all room service is ridiculous. If are at the restaurant you are then waiting for service and if you order room service is cold and has been sitting for a long time. All in all a nice place to get away but has sooooo much more potential if it was run and taken care of properly.

Went to Hecla with friends, a young family. We had a great visit there, a couple of us went fishing off the nearby pier, we visited the close-by viewing tower and a barbeque beach spot. We had a barbeque at the supplied spots just outside the lobby, where they supplied a fire, firewood, and then took care of snuffing the fire after we were done. A very nice addition considering they have a restaurant on site. We didn't eat there, but I did drop by for a late-night beer. The location of the resort is fabulous; on a super big island, with wildlife, lots of trees, and the view over Lake Winnipeg compares to an ocean view anywhere.

Easter weekend was very busy for the hotel and they were a little behind on cleaning of rooms but immediately gave us and our friends coupons to use in the restaurant. Excellent way to avoid upsetting guests ( I had not even complained and they still did this) very smart marketing on their part !
The restaurant was hopping, the service was quick, the menu has great choices for everyone and the food was out in no time. Kids enjoyed the pools and everyone wished we could have stayed another couple of nights ! We will definitely be back !! Thank you 😊. Cathy Eyolfson, Gimli

We came to Hecla resort for a girls getaway with a day set aside for a massage and use of the spa facilities.
When we got here, we were disappointed to find out that the wet sauna in the main pool was closed. We decided - things happen, we will just use the one in the spa. Just as a side note- the main pool room seems very unmaintained and unhygienic with rust and mold??? visible in many places. The floor also seems to be covered in algae and is very slippery.
We booked 3 massages, however one was cancelled on our way to Hecla. We were told that the person whose massage was canceled could use the spa facilities, however no other options were presented to us. We specifically came here to have a spa day and one of our massages was cancelled and your facilities in the spa were either disgusting or not working. The wet sauna/steam room was closed. The waterfall shower was disgusting with wet towels thrown about inside, little bottles everywhere, and Tresemme shampoo and conditioner bottles instead of quality products. There was nothing for my friend whose massage was cancelled to experience other than sit and have tea. The massages were also quite expensive given that there is no actual facility to use. The pools are already included in the cost of the hotel.
Stephanie was a great masseuse though and did a great job.
Furthermore, while our room was nice, the safe did not work and the tub does not train during showers. The tub was quite gross. The sink in the bathroom also did not drain well.
This all makes for not the best experience, especially considering the price of visiting Hecla resort! You should not tell people that when booking a massage you can use the spa facilities when there are none. If we would have known we would have cancelled everything and gone to a different spa location.
Massages with no spa are typically half the price of what you charge and yet you did not have the spa experience with the massage.
This has been an disappointing experience and we will not be recommending the spa or Hecla resort if someone is looking for a clean pool and spa shower experience.
I sent an email to guess services and the manager while we were there , but no one ever contacted us to address our concerns.

We stayed at the resort three years ago (double queen, 2nd floor) and had a good time. Unfortunately, things have changed. We splurged for a king suite and ended up in a main floor room with paper thin walls on one side. You could hear people next door speaking clearly even at a normal volume. The room smelled like stale cigarettes for some reason. The carpet was filthy and stained (bring flip flops...you won’t want to go barefoot on it) and there was a sticky film on most surfaces. Mould around the tub, peeling paint, sliding bathroom doors don’t fully close (poor privacy). and the windows were grimy and covered with cobwebs. The food at the restaurant is mediocre at best (and overpriced). Beds are mushy and hurt my back. The only redeeming feature is the pool and waterslide, which our kids loved. Otherwise, we would have stayed elsewhere for a fraction of the price (campground maybe) and eaten at the Lighthouse Restaurant nearby which was great.
The resort is severely understaffed and in need of a reno. The management doesn’t seem to care, so don’t bother complaining. The hotel appears to be in its death throes, which is sad because the location is beautiful and it had a lot of potential. It is at full capacity this summer, mostly with Manitobans, due to the current COVID travel restrictions. However, once travel opens up again and people have more options, I suspect many guests will not return.

It’s usually open until 11pm. During Covid you could only get one hour slots to swim but I assume it has changed now.
