My husband and I came to NS from Ontario to celebrate our 40th birthdays. We stayed at the Bras d'Or Lakes Inn for one night after driving the Cabot trail. We loved the Inn! Super cute rustic vibe with a great restaurant and live music (a Friday night stay). We loved the electric fireplace in our room, gave such a nice cozy ambiance. Loved the comfy king bed!! At dinner we had white wine and shared a variety of scallop appetizers. They were the best scallops I've ever had!! Melt in your mouth perfection. The service was wonderful, very friendly chatty waitress :) Such a beautiful area even in the rain!

Right from the moment my husband and I walked in we were welcomed and felt at home. We took advantage of The Kayaks that you offer when we first arrived and we also dined in the restaurant in the evening and had the braised short ribs. By far the best we've ever had. We did go down to the desk and ask a lot of questions for the first little bit and your staff member Wendy made us feel like we were right at home and we were no bother whatsoever. The rooms were beautiful and modern with a touch of rustic which we loved especially the little fireplace and the complimentary water and coffee was a lovely touch. The little things are the things that many establishments forget about nowadays and thankfully you did not. We had a wonderful day and have already rebooked for next summer. Thanks again to your staff and especially Wendy.

This was a good stopping point for the night en route to North Sydney to catch the ferry to Newfoundland. Room was clean and good value. The best part is the restaurant where they happened to be hosting "Kitchen Fest" - a Gaelic music festival. The food was very tasty and more refined than I was expecting from the look of the place outside. I could hear some of the revelry after I retired to my room, but it didn't go too late.

Totally exceptional! As a jaded long time road warrior it takes a lot to impress me. Our stay at the Bras D’Or Inn was unplanned as we awaited Hurricane Fiona. Wendy the Manager and her pleasant and competent staff made our stay truly memorable. Complicated room reservations due to the storm. No problem. Outstanding cuisine. No problem. First class entertainment. No problem. Excellent bar service. No problem. One example was a delivery crew member took the bus from Halifax and would be arriving late. No problem. We phoned the food order in after we picked him up at the bus stop and Wendy convinced the entertainer to play an extra hour. Now that is service beyond compare. Oh yes, the Inn is in a very nice setting with quiet and very clean rooms.

My organization held a retreat here over the weekend. Wendy, the manager, helped to organize and coordinate our in-house functions and the food, drink, and staffing required for the entire event. To say it went well isn't giving this property the proper credit. The food was fantastic, the service was prompt and friendly, the music was wonderful, and our guests raved about the entire experience. Wendy even walked one of our guest's dogs while we were out for the day. To all the staff but especially to Wendy, Sarah, Dana, Angie, Kathleen, and the kitchen staff, thank you for your hard work all weekend. I will continue to recommend the Inn as a top-of-the-line destination.

Lots of wood everywhere, solid furnishings, interesting pictures, attractive decor. Comfy beds, spotlessly clean. Microwave, fridge, wall fireplace, good wifi. No complaints! Love to come back. Professional, accommodating desk staff, secure card bldg entry, walking distance to village.

We were really looking forward to our Cape Breton get away, and our first night was here. We booked in and bought music and dinner tickets as well. We really enjoyed the live music. The food was fine, I wouldn't call it fine dinning, but it was fine. Our room on the other hand when we check in we were put in a pet frindly room, the bed was covered in hair, there was food under the bed, the baseboard had definite pet unine and hair all over them, and the carpet was filty. We did move to another room, which appeared to be better how ever ther was candy under the table, and when we moved the stand between the bed a giant bottle of adult lubricant and some other trash. It was a really gross experince. In the hallway they run a dehumidifer with an airfresherner on it, to mask dampness. Will not stay again...and makes you wonder how clean the spaces are you cant see (Like the kitchen).

My story. I booked the room for one person and a dog for one night. I arrived and it was a bit of chaos as they had a major event in the dining room that night. Staff were rather pre-occupied with that (first hint at trouble - staff not dedicated to the hotel). This also meant that I was not able to get a meal at the hotel. Check in was OK and I got to my room - tho it seriously fealt I was not part of the hotel as the room is away and down stairs. Felt odd. Room itself is OK. Not great, not horrible. Appeared clean. Fun began at 230 AM when the fire alarm went off. No fire, false alarm, but all guests had to leave their rooms. It took OVER an hour to turn the alarm off and allow guests to return. Not much of an apology from the hotel - perhaps this is normal. During our forced evacuation, the hotel's night watchman tried to pick fights with other hotel guests. Why? Not sure. But he did try to get other guests involved to help him with the fight. Very bizarre behaviour. Fun continued AFTER I got home. I noticed that my credit card was billed TWICE for one night. So I emailed the hotel and they said YUP, I was correct, I did get billed twice. But I would have to call them to get it corrected. Why? Who knows, but they could take your money twice without the customer's involvement, but could not refund it without involving the customer. Oh, and it wasn't calling them that day, I was supposed to call the next day. Why? Who knows. Life got in the way so it took me a week to call back to the hotel. On my first call I was told that they were closed (despite someone answering the phone). That was weird. So I was told I had to call them the next day. The next day I called. I was told - oh, we're not in the office today. So maybe call tomorrow. HUH!!! The person on the phone, noticed my tone, and said that they would call me back tomorrow. GRRRRRR They then suggested I give them my credit card number and they would process the refund when they got in to the hotel. Great! Finally some positive action. NOPE Check my credit card statement and noticed that I got a refund. But not for the full amount. I got a 90% refund. Not 100% which I fully expected. I have another email off to the Inn because I know phone calls are useless to this company. Who knows, maybe I only got a partial refund as there is a service fee for dealing with hotel screw ups or perhaps the hotel charges an entertainment fee for middle of the night fire drills. I had really high expectations of this facility. What a let down. So my advice - check your credit card statements and ensure you can leave your room on short notice. I will not be stopping at this facility again.

Great stay in a very clean room. Had a late meal in their Pub that was fantastic. The wait staff very very informative and friendly. Travelled about the area during the day down to Loch Lomond and Grand River. Also out to Port Hawkesbury for a car wash.
