Right from the moment my husband and I walked in we were welcomed and felt at home. We took advantage of The Kayaks that you offer when we first arrived and we also dined in the restaurant in the evening and had the braised short ribs. By far the best we've ever had. We did go down to the desk and ask a lot of questions for the first little bit and your staff member Wendy made us feel like we were right at home and we were no bother whatsoever. The rooms were beautiful and modern with a touch of rustic which we loved especially the little fireplace and the complimentary water and coffee was a lovely touch. The little things are the things that many establishments forget about nowadays and thankfully you did not. We had a wonderful day and have already rebooked for next summer. Thanks again to your staff and especially Wendy.

This was a good stopping point for the night en route to North Sydney to catch the ferry to Newfoundland. Room was clean and good value. The best part is the restaurant where they happened to be hosting "Kitchen Fest" - a Gaelic music festival. The food was very tasty and more refined than I was expecting from the look of the place outside. I could hear some of the revelry after I retired to my room, but it didn't go too late.

Had a fantastic stay here. The rooms are clean and comfortable and even had an electric fireplace that changes colours which was beautiful at night. I could see the water from my room which was a bonus. The food was incredible and the kettle chips are easily one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The dining room had live entertainment almost every night and there is a laundry room which is great because you can pack somewhat lighter. It takes both loonies and quarters so be sure to have both.

The only tweak is make would be to the internet. In the lobby/dining room I could easily get 30 or 40 mbps, but in my room my devices were struggling to reach even five which made trying to work during my stay a bit harder.

Overall it’s definitely a place that should be on your bucket list. I felt very at home there. Special shout out to the very sweet lady at the front desk. I didn’t catch her name but she always had a smile for me and helped me whenever I needed anything. I can’t wait to go back!

We were really looking forward to our Cape Breton get away, and our first night was here. We booked in and bought music and dinner tickets as well. We really enjoyed the live music. The food was fine, I wouldn't call it fine dinning, but it was fine.
Our room on the other hand when we check in we were put in a pet frindly room, the bed was covered in hair, there was food under the bed, the baseboard had definite pet unine and hair all over them, and the carpet was filty. We did move to another room, which appeared to be better how ever ther was candy under the table, and when we moved the stand between the bed a giant bottle of adult lubricant and some other trash. It was a really gross experince. In the hallway they run a dehumidifer with an airfresherner on it, to mask dampness. Will not stay again...and makes you wonder how clean the spaces are you cant see (Like the kitchen).

Totally exceptional!

As a jaded long time road warrior it takes a lot to impress me. Our stay at the Bras D’Or Inn was unplanned as we awaited Hurricane Fiona.

Wendy the Manager and her pleasant and competent staff made our stay truly memorable. Complicated room reservations due to the storm. No problem. Outstanding cuisine. No problem. First class entertainment. No problem. Excellent bar service. No problem. One example was a delivery crew member took the bus from Halifax and would be arriving late. No problem. We phoned the food order in after we picked him up at the bus stop and Wendy convinced the entertainer to play an extra hour. Now that is service beyond compare. Oh yes, the Inn is in a very nice setting with quiet and very clean rooms.

My wife and I stayed at this Inn June 3-7. We called just two weeks before and spoke to Nick who gave us a lot of details about this stay. We decided to book the cabin with a hot tub that had just been fully renovated and upgraded. The Inn is located right next to historic St. Peter’s Canal.

The accommodations were fantastic. Very quiet and peaceful over looking Bras D’Ors lakes. Birdwatchers would love the cranes, eagles and a variety of other birds not to mention the foxes and the deer that came by the cabin.

The food at the restaurant was top notch delivered to your door. Dustin, the chef has clearly worked at five star restaurants. The quality of what he served was as good as anything we’ve had elsewhere if not better. We would highly recommend the Lobster club and the tomato Crostini if it’s on the menu when you stay there.

Many of the reviewers have stayed just a night on the way through Saint Peters. We stayed for four nights and explored the area. There’s ample to do with hiking in several parks, golfing, biking, and boating with kayaks and canoes available for use at the inn. Fishing on the canal for mackerel or on the lake for sea trout is a favourite activity for the locals. The town has everything you need within walking distance.

Wendy and Nick were excellent in responding to all our questions and needs. They offered lots of suggestions of places to see nearby.

We will back again once they fully open for the season!

Lots of wood everywhere, solid furnishings, interesting pictures, attractive decor. Comfy beds, spotlessly clean. Microwave, fridge, wall fireplace, good wifi.
No complaints! Love to come back.
Professional, accommodating desk staff, secure card bldg entry, walking distance to village.

We stayed for 2 nights during Kitchenfest. Inn is very clean and rooms are very comfortable. We ate supper there both nights and the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Big shout out to Trina and Kevin for making our experience so great. Also to Wendy on the front desk for being so accommodating and helpful. We will definitely be back.

I apologize on this late response! This feature is now new to us. We do have music 6 nights a week at the inn but no longer hold the ceilidhs. A good site to check out the music scene here is the musiccapebreton website. Hope your travel plans go (went) well.

Is this resort close to the Cabot trail?
Answer from Wendy
St. Peter's, Canada18 contributions
The Bras d'Or Lakes Inn is closer to many of the Cape Breton attractions including Loiusbourg, the Miners museum and Baddeck. Some visitors do the Cabot Trail from here as well, returning for 8 pm dinner. It is a 10 to 12 hour day dependent upon your activities that day.
