We spent a lovely week chez Corinne while we were attending the 'Music in a French Village' festival organised by John Whibley's Holidays with Music. Corinne was a very attentive hostess, making us delicious breakfasts with homemade preserves and yoghurt. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with plenty of storage (we overpacked). We enjoyed sitting in the charming courtyard - playing board games or just reading while lying in the hammocks. Corinne was very helpful when giving us advice about expeditions we could make in the area, lending us maps. A wonderful week - thank you!

The owner of the place, Corinne, is an interior decorator and she has turned her whole house into a gorgeous and comfortable place with 3 charming bedrooms for guests. Each one is decorated differently with an exotic feeling which reflects the hosts' extensive travels. There's plenty of space in each one and the bathrooms are beautiful.
Breakfasts are sublime, varied, homemade, generous and served on the terrace. And the conversation is very friendly since Corinne clearly enjoys getting to know her guests.

I stayed here for one night, and was with open arms, The owner, Coco, gave very good advice on things to do and see in the area. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated with a lot of attention to small but important details such as fresh water, coffee, tea and cookies in the room. The breakfast was superb and the little patio with a spanish hacienda atmosphere is just adorable. A real cozy bed and breakfast but with a five start hotel treatment.

Corinne is an exceptional interior decorator and her lovely rooms, each with a delightful color palette are comfortable and quiet. Her partner Benjamin is a talented ceramic artist and his studio is close to La Tourette. His pieces are represented throughout the house and are used in most of the town's restaurants. Cucugnan is a quaint and historic village in the shadow of Queribus and close to the other Cathar castles and sites. Breakfast is great and the setting is spectacular. Not to be missed!

Nice big room with an excellent bathroom. The breakfast which is included is very good. Really nice & friendly people running the place. Great place to stay to visit the area. Close to Cathare castles Queribus & Peyrepertuse which are very interesting to visit.

Arrived on a miserable, wet day to be greeted with a warm smile, invitation to park the car in the garage underneath the house, and then shown to our delightful "Indigo" room. Spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable, with a lovely view out to the castle. Corinne, our host, could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Just a pity we could only stay one night.

We had a very nice room on the upper level of this house, with a view over the village and into the mountain to the South where Chateau de Queribus is sited. Each suite is decorated in a different style, and each is roomy and attractive. We had a fine breakfast with the owners in the kitchen. The Bread is from a local artisan baker who reportedly has one a very high award in France. Most of the breakfast items were homemade.... yogurt, preserves etc.... and very good cafe au lait.

We went for a really nice, and somewhat strenuous hike up to the Queribus Chateau, the last of the Cathar Fortresses to fall during the Albigensian Crusade, the only Crusade directed against Europeans.

We had lunch at one of the nearby hotels and dinner at another. Both were quite satisfactory.

The Village is sited on a hillside and is popular for tours going to Queribus and for the local vineyard and winery operations.

All Corinne’s rooms have a theme and she took me through each of them before I chose the one at the top with the view of Chateau Queribus - the Indian room. The place is littered with Indian paraphernalia - even the bathroom and toilet. Overwhelming really. I am sure tonight I shall dream of Rajasthan. Breakfast was sustaining. The room was very clean and the village of Cucugnan was absolutely charming. I could not have been more centrally located. On the hour the church bell rings next door. I could not find a bar open so Corinne brought me a delisious aperitif - how kind.

The gates are heavy wooden doors without a pearl in sight, while Saint Peter looks a lot better than in the paintings and introduces himself as Corinne, but once you've seen your room, and the gorgeous kitchen, the library and the terrace garden where the jacuzzi can be heated for you and aperos are served from the fridge at 7, you'll be reassured that you've arrived in Heaven: after all where else could you be?

The rooms are stunningly decorated, no detail spared nor spare detail. The garden is a haven in the already lovely village of Cucugnan. Breakfast is a genial, protracted affair if you wish it, Corinne clearly now an angel (how could you have thought otherwise?) sent from above to bring glad tidings of fresh crepes and swap tales of her travels. It's as if Leonora Carrington, Frida Kahlo and Dervla Murphy had agreed a merger.

If you're looking for just another gîte d'étape or chambre d'hôte, La Tourette may seem a little pricey, but the extra twenty euros or so are soon accounted for, as year on year of 'Le Routard' recommendations attest. This is an oasis. A paradise. Heaven.

Merci, Corinne.
