Stopped here one night and it was a gem of a place. Spotlessly clean rooms bedroom and bathroom. Good quality produce at breakfast pleasantly served. Lots of useful information in the room pack.

Nicely situated in the centre of Shaw with ample free parking, Wi-Fi and a lovely breakfast.

Stayed for 3 nights and found the Oak House to be excellent value for money. Stayed in room 7 which is a twin room, nice and clean lovely deep bath and plenty of hot water. Room was we

Do they really want business? As agreed at booking, we rang during our 7 hour journey to confirm arrival and explained that due to delays we would not be able to arrive between 2-3pm as anticipated, but between 5-6pm. This was met with a disgruntled response, as the person had ar

Response from Stuart P, Staff at Oak House B&B

We would just like to clear few issues here with your review. When we spoke to you regarding your delay, we did not say that there would be a problem with arranging for someone else to be here to check you in, however when you made your booking you were made aware that we would be going out that evening as we are only a small B&B and we are not always here. Your relatives were not pressured about the key handover at all. When we spoke to your cousin who also had a room booked, it was actually her suggestion that we give her room keys to you as you would be arriving earlier than she was. We don't usually do this as we like to provide a check in service to all our guests. However, this was the arrangement made between us and her and she was very happy about it but when you check in you refused to take her keys stating that you wouldn't be seeing her that evening. This led to confusion for your cousin as when she checked in she asked us why we didn't give you her keys. When we explained to her that you refused to take them and wouldn't be seeing her that evening, she told us that you were in fact going for a mea together, and so would be seeing her, so we don't understand why you would create an issue out of someothing that had already been organised. Due to your refusal, we then had to pay the member of staff to stay the extra 4 hours waiting for your cousin to check in. Regarding breakfast, all our breakfasts are freshly made to order and are tailored to guests requirements. Our breakfast options are emailed to all our guests, and we also have this readily available in the hallway, which was given to you and you read it before giving us your order. This information is also in the information book in the rooms so if you felt you did not have any time to read the options as thoroughly as you say you would like, you could have either asked us to give you more time or even changed your order at any point. Cereals are requested, again, as stated on the breakfast options list that was given to you so you could have asked for some, even at breakfast time but you chose not to. Brown bread is not readily available as not a lot of people ask for it but again, if you would have requested it we could have provided this for you, not a problem. To answer your first part of your review, of course we want business. We are only a small B&B mainly just ran by the manager and we provide a lot for what we charge. We are not always here but we do plan our days and lives around guests arriving. It's a shame you have only given us 1 star as you did say you found the beds to be comfortable and the bathroom was spacious but then you did not mention the free wifi you received or free car park you used, compared to other places that either charge for this facility or do not even have it at all, or the unlimited tea/coffee/juice/toast you were offered.

Always clan, always friendly. Very good breakfast. You can't go wrong. In response to other reviews there is traffic noise but it is next to a road, not that busy. This is not a factor that the management can control but do their best to combat it. Everything in there control is
